| Probably not. No idea actually. We use it for the irritated/red areas. It does not treat the source necessarily.

| This is urine burn, so she needs something on there constantly at times.

| No, her pH is okay. She has to wear a diaper the majority of the time and I'm sure the pads in them irritate her. And besides if she goes and I'm not right there to change it, her skin is in contact with urine for awhile... We have no choice b/c she prefers to go inside a half hour after we come in from outside. Her other choices are crate which she hates, playpen which she jumps out of (so unsafe), or our laps which isn't always possible.

| She won't use pee pads regularly. She prefers carpet.

desitin is good but i like butt paste better. we used it on all red irritated spots, not just the private areas. on hit by cars with road rash i'd put butt paste on them.

One of my fosters used to have a terrible time with urine irritating his skin. I think that some are more sensitive than others. I started putting Balmex on his skin whenever I changed his belly band and it worked like a charm!

| She was perfect yesterday (and no poop). Today it is very, very soft (but a better color). So now I'm going through the: Take her in? Don't take her in? Take her in? Don't take her in? I don't think she is seriously ill, but not sure she can get better on her own. Her intestines may have crapped out (lol, no pun intended) on us again.

I never compared the ingredients, but I do feel that Balmex works better. I learned that when my son was a baby...Desitin actually made his skin red and irritated it. A friend suggested Balmex and he never had a diaper rash again! It was amazing stuff!
