While some things may be common in certain breeds, it does not mean it is exclusive to them. Just because a pom has cushings does not mean it "runs in the pom breed".

| Hi guys I have been trying to go through all the great posts and figure out where I should start. She does have a pot belly but she does not walk that much due to her hips not being right. I wish I had all the info from the vet. But it makes me sick why this vet allowed this dog to leave that office without being spayed. So, when I call my vet I will ask her about getting the 6 panel work up and some of these other tests. I will only have her here with me for about 2 weeks so I was hoping to be able to help her as much as I can while she is here and when her parents come back talk to them and see exactly what all has been done at her vet and the diagnoses and what they are willing to do in the future to help Diamond. |

![]() Also, if your friend's Vet doesn't see the need to spay & neuter either of your friends dogs, why doesn't she find a NEW vet? I don't get it... ![]() oops...just saw in the OP that she did have surgery for her hips...

| you no what I don't get it either. I would never in a million years allow one of my animals to go through what this poor dog has. It is obvious to me that they aren't willing to spend any more money on the situation either. That is why I cam on here to see if anyone knew of anything I could personally do to help Diamond while she was in my care. |

you are so sweet and caring. I hope it is just Alopecia X as that would be the easiest for this owner to care for. HypoT is cheap and easy too. I think i get 100 pills for $20 and she gets a 1/3 of a pill twice daily so they last forever. I think if alopecia X the spaying of her may help Ann does anything show up on a regular blood panel to indicate cushings? I know when dd was on prednisone they wrote on pred on the blood work and some numbers were off but it was a while ago. sounds like blood work, thyroid panel add on, urine test for cushings, spaying are best place to start for this little one to get her better. Don't vets know that if a father is bigger than mother that mother should not have those pups? Isn't that dangerous and shouldn't a vet advise against this? I do not know anything about breeding as all of mine are spay and neutered but just curious as this is upsetting to me that this girl shattered her pelvis for no reason makes me sad | |

| What a little sweetie she is , I have heard great things about this product as some of my friends have used it with their dogs with skin allergies, I am not saying that's what Diamond has but have a look at this product and see if you think it could help her in any way.Amazing Natural Cream for itchy skin on dogs

| I also want to make sure you know I think you could be the vehicle to getting Diamond the care she needs...didn't want to come off like I was slamming you. I just thought it irresponsible of your friend to place Diamond who's in heat with the male in your care all the while you have your own breeding life going on there, too. You've certainly got your hands full and thank you for taking the time to try and get Diamond on the right track!

| As I said earlier Diamond is 8 yrs old this is my 2nd time ever seeing the dog. I live hours away from where they live so we obviously are not that close of friends. They feel like Diamond did get the proper care and they feed her all the special food their vet told them to she cooks for her. She has drawers of outfits the dog wheres everyday. She puts skin so soft on her everyday. They were under the the assumption as I was when I first posted this that it was from the surgery and medicine. Their vet led them to believe he did everything he could for this dog. This happened years ago and she has been this way since. I can not answer why people do not spay and neuter their pets or why everyone and their Mother thinks because they have a female dog they can breed it and everything will be fine. They always tell me it is too expensive to spay and neutered their pets anymore in the vets so a lot of people now a day just don't do it. I have to deal with the matter I am dealing with at the moment. Judging people does not help Diamond either educating does. I have their un neutered male here too and I am certainly not crazy enough to allow anything horrible to happen to this baby in my home. |

Don't blame the vet for her not being spayed. A vet cannot spay a dog without permission from the owner. I find it very depressing that your friend has left this dog intact and around intact males after all she went through. It is her responsibility to care properly for her dog....not her vets.

The best thing you could do is to tell your friend that if she is not willing to spend the money to properly care for Diamond, then she should surrender her to a reputable rescue that will care for all of her needs.
