Aw Cookie ! I didn't really know that doggies could get this, but it makes sense. What about Benadryl to keep her calmer? And, LOTS of chews to keep her busy...I bet she'd just hate that .

She is on hydroxizine, but she still loves to talk, especially when she is outside. The mockingbirds get her going.

Linda, if you figure out how to get a Yorkie to be quiet for even 1 hour, I'll hire you as Ellie's trainer. lol.

I know it's hard, but try to relax. We have had so many scares with Ellie (could be abcdefg and what if it's cancer????? AND, AND), but she has always been okay. They just like to scare you once in awhile.

hahahah I hear that.....and you just have to know Cookie...she is a TALKER and a half!

She is definitely scaring me....things like this that are not so clear worry me. Probably a simple laryngitis, but I have my brain in overdrive.

My pom had permanent larynginitis. She had Cushing's and heart problems but the vet never determined why she lost her full voice. Not only was her bark sound horse but she never barked a full bark later in life. It was like a half bark. Hope Cookie feels better soon.

Aw, darn it Cookie. Texas hasn't been very nice to us when it comes to pollen this year. I'm sorry little one. If you were my baby (I'm a human baby nurse) I'd get you a vaporizer for more soothing humidity. Your mommy is so worried about you. When I say I will pray for your recovery....I really mean it. Then your whole family will not be thinking the worst. Plus, I know this is bugging you and cramping your talking style.

I hope you find out it's just a sore throat. I know pollen count here is way high and even Ringo is sneezing a lot with allergies.

I did take her to the vet the other day. She had a cortisone injection and was put on hydroxizine, but yesterday it persisted; so the vet started her on antibiotics. If she is not improved by the beginning of the week the next step will be an xray. I have such a fear that this could be a tumor. Of course, we will scope her if she does not improve, but that is not top on the list to do right now. She does not have any difficulty swallowing or breathing, so perhaps it is just a sore throat...or she strained it.

Please say prayers for my Cookie.

Always possible it is strained...and it will take a while for the voice to come back to normal. Now if she was human, they would take a deep look down her throat to rule out polyps, etc. Allergies are the best best, and the Hydroxizine should help if it is a drip. Hydroxizine is called Atarax and Vistaril mmade by Pfizer. Mainly given to humans for Balance problems, Sea sickness, Pruitis, skin irritations, anxiety, a sleep aid, etc, and yes, it is a Antihistamine. You know what the Cortisone is for, so that first line of defense will hopefully work. Hope she gets her Bark back real fast, but good there is no other irregularities noted.

All serious~don't start worrying yourself. Poor baby probably has an allergy reaction like the vet is suspecting. Pebbles has been doing this weird cough and the vet said the same thing about allergies being bad this year. Hopefully the meds will kick in and she will be back to her usual barking self.

Real bad in the Chicago area. Max was sneezing, Vet said the same thing. She has stopped sneezing, but had my wife concerned.

Nope, no coughing. Just sudden loss of her voice. She has lots to say and no voice now to say it with. I now wish I had never said her bark was offensive...I miss it.
