Thanks guys

I've noticed in the past day that if Layla wants to shake her head, she will hesitate first so I'm a tiny bit worried about that, but I'll keep an eye out for it. I've just noticed it in her carrier where she can't sit up straight unless her head pokes out the front, so maybe she's just trying to get comfortably stretched out first. But whatever it is, I know we'll get through anything.

I'm glad to know Layla continues to do well with her crate rest. I pray for her and think of her each day, keeping faith she will be all better some day soon!♥

Hi! Just checking in to see how Layla is doing with her crate rest. Too bad we don't live close together because Gilmore and Layla could have been crate rest buddies. Gilmore is doing well and has 10 more weeks to go.

Hoping Layla continues to do well.

I got this poem yesterday through Dodgerslist and I wanted to share:

"I'm Still Your Dog & Friend"

Because I'm "just a dog", you see.
I don't sigh and say "Why me"
I just face it - go on living
And play the hand that I've been given.

I need you more now, that is true
For there are things I just can't do.
The ball you throw I cannot catch
I can't even lift my leg to scratch.

It's embarrassing a little,
that I may need your help to piddle
But if our roles were in reverse,
I'd be proud to be your nurse.

But hey, I love you more than ever.
Me give up? Well yeah, like never!
I don't regret what cannot be,
With you, my friend, I'll just be me!

I'm still me within my soul
Where it counts, I still am whole.
My back is bent, and I'm quite lame
but in my heart I'm still the same.

I have been following your journey with Layla from the beginning. Although I seldom post anything I am always here reading and praying for good news for you both.
I can hardly type through my tears. Those of us who have nursed a sick pet thank you for the post. I have been down this road more times than I like to remember but the good times always far out weigh the bad.
Lindsey you are an inspiration to pet owners everywhere.
My best wishes for a very happy and healthy new year for you and Layla.

Aww don't make me cry at work!! Thank you very much. I'm sorry to hear you've been through it so many times... but at the same time I'm glad your pets have been lucky enough to have lived with someone who cares!

I am glad to hear Gilmore is doing well! Has he settled down a lot? I think the beginning is always the hardest, because they just aren't used to it. Good luck to you and Gilmore! Layla has 4 more weeks as of tomorrow... HALF DONE! Layla and Gilmore can be cyber crate rest buddies

Your post is truly heartfelt and moving, and there is such truth to your words. You may not post much, but when you do, it is very beautiful.

Lindsey, I rarely post but today I am compelled to say thank you for all that you have been through and have shared on this forum. I have just spent several hours reading through this entire thread and you are such a strong woman that is blessed with a great man and a beautiful fur-baby that has and will continue to touch many lives. You are such an inspriration and need to be reminded of all the progress you have made when a bad day comes along! Layla is so lucky to have such wonderful parents, that believes in her and love her like you do!

I have three fur-babies that all have special needs. Some days (weeks!) have been very stressful and emotional but knowing God has given them to me and feeling the love that they give back has made every second worth it! I will pray for Layla's continued progress and health; I also pray that you are blessed ten-fold for being such a good mommy and person!
