Roriee (AAI puppy) has had a major relapse!

I remember about Bleu Boy Barber from when I first joined. For some reason, the magnitude of this condition just hit home with this thread. I have two special needs furkids but am grateful to have not been confronted with this.

yeah the magnitude was when Yen lost Davinci within 4 days of having neck pain and I was devastated over that one so neck pain is very serious in maltese and yorkie breeds and should be with a neurologist immediately as I am surprised this little one has lasted this long under these circumstances and is one fighter for sure

Exactly. Duration being greater than 30 days, plus the fact that the conservative method has been tried, but the fusion that was expected to occur didn't , or wasn't strong enough, resulting in the relapse. Also, pups treated conservatively are much more fragile upon successful completion of treatment than are those treated surgically.

yeah i would go surgery route they use pins i believe as baby bear had a pin that came out i believe so that is of concern as well but he is doing fine

The article I posted states that the use of bone cement can help prevent that from occurring, but may not eliminate the occurrances of pin migration all together. They're seeing less frequency of that happening. It also depends on a lot of factors, like the size of the dog, the extent of the injury/repair, etc...

yeah i think she had the surgery like 3 years ago as we raised money for the surgery on our yorkie groups to help so maybe they have made some progress. I just went back and read that original thread again and all 3 val, vicki and jaimie posted so hoping she will reach out to them again but the relapses will continue to happen i believe until surgery is done I ruptured my achilles and i could have been casted for a year if i had diabetes or older or have surgery and walk again immediately so some things you can avoid surgery but it takes a lot longer to heal and you run the risk of reinjury as a re-rupture was a high probability just like a re-injury with neck for scar tissue is a high probability. If a dog can have surgery then that should be the best solution and as of yet cannot see any reason for not having the surgery other than cost which i know it is probably not cheap as the dog does not have a shunt with those bats and is on steroids and tolerating them to decrease inflammation

Now if a rupture acl injury then i believe in the scar tissue theory and no surgery 80% of the time in toy breeds so sometimes surgery is not necessary but in this case i believe it is necessary

I was told that this pup needs surgery by the vet. I had called to offer to pay for a body cast IF it were recommended, but they told me surgery was and that there was never even an estimate written. She was there in December and she never returned. SO, if Randi decided upon the surgery, that would be the first step....a call to them and a written estimate. I would have spent up to $1,000 if a body cast would help.......I am not spending $4,000. The people who did this have done a great job here of making sure this pup did not get help. They turned the entire thing into a bash LJ for even daring to suggest rescue. I honestly dont care about that...I ONLY care that this has prevented this pup from getting proper care.

SO...I called Randi yesterday, but her phone does not allow blocked calls and I do not wish to give her my number. At this point, I am going to advise her to get a written estimate and THEN start asking for help from the orgs that I sent to her! She cannot ask for money without a written estimate! Then, if she would just email or PM me, I will help her out...and of course I EXPECT all of these other people to put their money where their mouths are and help out as well. Eight people putting up $500 each would do the trick and I see about seven who think that rescue is a bad option. What I am offering is on a personal level..NOT rescue. It is MY money. Can I really afford it? No...I have my OWN pups to care for and before I got them I made sure there was a fund for their care. But that is another story.

The only thing these people who have complained about how mean I am have accomplished is to harden me more. I will NEVER involve myself in anything like this again. I will turn my back, ignore it, and let the pup die. Why? Because I seriously have been sick over this one pup...and trust me there are SO many more like her that it is mind boggling. I do that now with shelters because I cannot save them all...I will also now do it with YT. Once I see a pup and keep talking about it and then know it is suffering, it is impossible for me to forget it. Offering rescue was saving Roriee. I am sick of people and their mouths...like I said, cough up some money and I will be right there with mine! THIS IS ABOUT RORIEE. I was told she DOES need surgery. I dont care what other stories are being told today about her miraculous recovery...that is because Randi is fearful that we are going to report her.

We cannot raise money on YT. Those of you who are doing Randi so many favors by telling her everything that is being posted...please DO share this with her. After she gets an estimate, then she can set up a fund at the vet. I will NOT send money directly to her or anyone else and would not expect anyone else to. My guess is it is her first offer of money and that is what she needs right now...not a bunch of forwarded messages about how mean other people are for trying to help. Please remember that this cannot turn into a fundraising thread! Use PM or email.

Randi is taking Roriee to the vet tomorrow and will be faxing her surgery estimate to me.

ok but it is a neurologist correct not a regular vet ?

regular vets do not do this surgery to my knowledge ?

well if it is not a neurologist it is wasted money on a vet visit then as i stated back in november this dog needs to be under the care of a neurologist it is serious and if the cost is of concern then given to a rescue This dog can have a good life if surgery is done just like the three i have posted about have a great life now- I just hope and pray this dog can get the proper care it deserves quickly and no more relapses as i know the op loves this little one but it needs to be taken care of by a specialist at this point this is out of the realm of a regular vet as we saw with Davinci - I do not want to see another dog die of this

ok i hope it all works out tomorrow just so sad over this whole thing and thought it was taken care of back in november so was surprised to find out the dog is still having issues -
