I know AAI is a tough call. Some are good candidates and some are not, and even with surgery comes tremendous risks. I think you have some very well qualified Neuro Specialists and I would lean towards how they guide you. Also, any dog that screams, yelps, cry's or shivers are signs of pain, so please be keen to that, and make sure you have an emergency plan in place to get her to the hospital asap should a circumstance arrive :( |
To the original poster, I am very sorry that all of this is happening. You must be absolutely devastated. I understand that she means the world to you, but right now it's time to get yourself well. As for Roriee, giving her to a rescue may be an option. However, even if surgery is successful, she still has a list of other issues that have to be taken care of. And if she isn't a candidate for surgery right now and gets a cast, then the question becomes what happens when the cast comes off. The cycle could keep repeating. Looking at her pictures really shows how extremely sick this little girl is. She is likely in an immense amount of pain right now. So while giving her to a rescue is an option, it may be time to humanely end her suffering instead and that is something only you have the power to decide. I am very, very sorry. :( |
i am sorry, but i really really cannot believe you are allowing this to go on. your poor poor baby. this is very unfair to her. how would you feel if you were screaming in pain, and the doctor and others just stood by waiting for you to 'heal'??? this is not right! time is not a luxury you have right now, please get help for her now, i cannot believe how long you've waited, you are stalling when she needs urgent care. it's so unfair to her. if she passes away on your watch when you know you could have gotten help for her by surrendering her to a rescue, can you live with that guilt? please do the right thing for your baby now. |

Your dog is suffering. I just read that your dog was screaming in pain. I am appalled that anyone who proclaims to love their dog would allow this to continue, for even one more second. I realize it is not always at everyone's fingertips to come up with thousands of dollars for veterinary care. That is when you you act for the dog and not for yourself. If there ever was a day in any of my dog's lives that I heard them *scream* or otherwise show distress, I'd surrender them to rescue, put them down, or pay the bill not matter how I had to do it. You may think you can take a wait and see approach. You can't. You are the guardian of your dog and you owe it to him to do the right thing for him. RIGHT NOW. |
This is one of the most disturbing things I have read online. Just looking at her pictures on your website seriously makes me want to scream. The poor little darling is suffering and you keep saying you love her. Sorry...but that is not love to let her live like that. If you don't want to let someone help her, then put her down. Don't let that poor little baby suffer any more!!! You need to wake up and stop thinking about yourself and think about HER. She is defenseless...she is relying on you and you are not coming through. I know you don't want to hear this, but honestly it is what you NEED to hear! If you have a rescue that will help her, then either that or euthanasia is to me the ONLY answer at this point unless you can come up with the money TODAY.....stop waiting for someone to come along and pay her vet bills. This is not something that you can keep putting off!! How will you feel if she dies suddenly? Will you forgive yourself for letting her suffer until she died?? I know I would not be able to. |
where are the pictures ? |

I reported it and also PMd Ann. |
This is probably the last time I will post to this thread- because it is way too painful to keep reading. Randi I have reviewed your website, seen the photos, and read every word on the home page. I see that you have referenced UGA vet school, and other vets/neuro surgeon in atl area. I do not live far from you. My vet right here in the seat of Athens Ga immediately sent me to Upstate Vet Hospital in Greenville, SC...skipping over the uga vet school, because Upstate has have two guru surgeons for AAI pets. I have walked the AAI road with Ellie since mid January. I have walked the valley of death with Ellie numerous times, and with amazing emotional support and education about AAI we have learned to take one day at a time. We have placed dozens of emergency vet phone calls, and neuro sureon calls for the smallest of fears. Specifically- when Ellie yelps, or cried, or acted uncomfortable. Not for one second can I imagine such an innocent precious helpless baby go into a "SCREAMING" zone- nor can i imagine a Vet instructing to take steroids and hope she gets better. It isn't adding up. I pray you can find a way to get her IMMEDIATE relief...whatever that relief may need to be to ease her PAIN. This puppy is in PAIN if she is screaming. Can you at least get her to a new vet for a new opinion? one that specializes in AAI? I do NOT understand why she is not in a body brace right this very second...she is not just going to "heal" on her own without the neck support required to fuse her scar tissue. I feel like I am repeating myself on all of this in Roriee's behalf. I cannot stand hearing any more about the pain this puppy is said to be in So i shall now quietly PRAY for Roriee. |
I don't ever post to this kind of illness and I told myself I would not come back and read any more about Roiree. I came back hoping I would read that you had gotten help for her. This precious puppy is crying out in pain and you take pictures of her twisted body but you can't bring yourself to get help for her?? I can't sleep tonight thinking about this baby, can you sleep at night, I'm serious, can you sleep? |
This thread is disturbing on many levels. I saw the pictures. This poor dog needs help immediately - not four months from now or four weeks from now. NOW. |

I hope this pup gets the help she needs or at least put down so she no longer has to live in this pain. |

i am not posting here anymore.. i am not coming here anymore to update her condition.. thank you so much for your help, nformation and compassion. |
Anyone here who can verify that the OP has indeed contacted you to pick up this pup? OP.....you ask if we have compassion??? YES...we do...for your poor defenseless pup that you are using as a tool in my opinion. When I gave you information about vetting, I had not seen your site. This has been going on for a while. Your pup is screaming out in pain and you lolly gag around hoping someone is going to pay for her surgery. No...sorry...no compassion tonight for you. It is reserved for that poor little darling who could have ALREADY have been to the best vet possible and had surgery needed if her owner...NOT mother...had not been so selfish. I hope you are right and someone is going to pick her up..she needs to be as far from you as possible. :( This just turns my stomach inside out...I looked at those pics and almost threw up. NO EXCUSE to leave a pup like that. I don't care WHEN you took them...they are horrifying. :( I think I am going to call the vet listed on your page tomorrow. I really need to know if you can be reported for cruelty. Seriously. |
Well, well, mother of the year took the site down. Clearly you know you are wrong, or you would not do that. My suggestion to you is to find a way to help her NOW.... Sorry, Randi, but I was one step ahead of you and copied the entire site earlier today. I will be doing everything in my power to help her tomorrow morning since you refuse to do so and feel it is appropriate to leave her in such pain and agony. That IS cruelty to animals. |
you can speak to olga from live rescue Roree, the AAI dog with HMD has had a relapse (and her owner Randee is having serious health issues which require surgery) We need to get Roree, a 5 lb yorkie, from Marietta GA to MI (Detroit suburbs) Can anyone help with this transport?? Olga Olga DLD moderator the liver shunt group mod.. i dont care that you copied the site.. i have it and i can put it up again. i am shocked with your accusations.. absolutly shocked.. but i have heard that some here are very mean and this has happened before.. simply shocked |
Randi i am so sorry i did see this post on the liver group and i know olga will take good care of Roree - I see they are trying to arrange for transport. Hang in there I know this is a tough decision. |
You will be in my thoughts for all of this. I can not imagin having to make such a difficult decision. I also hope and pray all goes well for you with your health issues. This is a lot to deal with at once. If you ever need anyone to talk to I am here. :) |
I am so thankful that this pup is being rescued. I know this was a hard decision to make, but it was the correct one. I wish you the best. |
i worked with olga the first time she was sick.. ladyjane is very wrong about everything she has written.. olga posted for transport this afternoon before i went to work.. so yes someone can verify that i have reached out.. to the posters that have been very rude. shame on you for being so mean., you should maybe do a little research before you jump to conclusions. |

I don't give a rat's behind what people think about me or what anyone says. ALL I care about is the welfare of pups who CANNOT take care of themselves. You have had some mighty conflicting stories and clearly I am NOT the only one who took issue with what you were saying and doing. People here who call me mean have NO idea who I am...they all come out of the woodwork and call people mean when it suits their "agenda". Not their first rodeo. :) I don't see THEM helping animals...just worrying about being "nice" to people who are mean to animals. Shameful. Every single person who spoke up against what this poor pup has been through did so for the good of the pup. Sure we all feel terrible for you on some level...but you are capable of caring for yourself!! Thank God she is going to get the help she should have! I don't know Olga but will trust that others do and know she will do the right thing. |
The OP is doing what she can to help this little girl. She deserves a TON of respect and support for giving this pup to rescue. Some people are quick to judge others and they have no idea what some people do to help animals, and they can be "nice" to people at the same time :) |
