Bump--similar situation Hi girls.... Snickers's nose it looking very much like many of the pics posted on this thread. Crystal, have you done anything/gotten any feedback as to help Ellie May's nose?? Snick's 1 side of his nose is losing hair BUT HE DOES ITCH IT almost every morning. Also, the same side of the nose irritation, he also has some skin irritation right under his lip.:( So it just seems his one side is bothering his, nose, lip and all. We plan to take him to the vet tomorrow to get it checked out. He's been scratching it for a lil while now and I changed proteins in his food and no change. Let me know if anyone has any input. He itches it every morning and then not much at all for the rest of the day. He does like to rub his face into the carpet if it's the least bit wet. Thanks!! Worried- Viv |

The only thing we have done is a skin scraping. Nothing showed up. We could do some bloodwork and/or a biopsy, but her vet isn't in a rush to do anything at the moment. Melanocyte alopecia and zincc responsive dermatitis have come up, but definitely no diagnosis right now. I think she is losing some hair on her ear too. If we have unlimited funds, I'd probably choose to biopsy or do a ton of bloodwork, but she doesn't appear to be in danger, so we are just watching it. A derm consult also wouldn't be a bad idea, but no rush here... I hope your vet figures it out. :) BTW, Ellie is usually itchy to an extent and she rubs her face, but not enough to cause anything like this. |

Keep in mind a dog can eat a food for a long time and then become allergic to it so that can be happening also but you have to start eliminating the most recent changed variables first. |
