if you are home cooking and want to make sure not a vitamin deficient there is a vitamin panel they can do and i believe it is done at michigan state |
I am gonna take pics of TJs nose tonight too! His hair loss is ontop and on the sides, he also has hair loss on his chin, and I noticed that around his eyes is sorta thinning...I worry about the loss of pigmentation :( I will try to get photos of that too...Since his paw pads remained skin color though, I wonder if it is part of his genes or something... |

We are a bit confused b/c it seems that it would take longer than a month for things to go crazy from an unbalanced diet... |

Is there any fuzz hair there at all??? |
1 Attachment(s) And one more |
Pic one shows how shiny the area is. Pics 2 and 3 show about where it stops (where my thumb is). The area under my thumb there is likely thinning too though. The last pic in the last post shows how wide the area is. My thumb is a better marker than my index finger there. the area widens closer to the tip. |

yeah she is further along than dd and the skin is blackening and noticed dd is black there too so i was thinking fungal as well - i asked derm about fungal infection for dd down when she was rubbing her vulva and she said it is very rare a dog to get yeast infections in bladder - but i go tomorrow for her recheck so i will ask her about the nose as well to see what her thoughts were. I am glad you posted this as this was another concern of mine as i have noticed it has gotten worse in last six months as i look at pics and then look at her now and i see a difference so it bums me out :( before doing the biopsy i would on the next blood draw do the vitamin panel and see if she is low on zinc - I think the vitamin b more has to do with pigmentation than hair loss |
I think that's NOT old age :( ...something funky is going on... With TJ it is almost at 1/2 inch from the brown line going back on the top and the sides, but he has little fuzz hairs and than at the 1/2 inch line, the hair is normal, thick and long. I have the Malaseb Shampoo Chlorhexidine 2% and I think I will start to use that on his nose... Maybe you should do the Vitamin and Mineral Tests at U of M :( |
just found this - very interesting since dd is on a SOY diet ughhhhh as i knew i read something about zinc and soy issues :( Zinc-responsive Dermatosis in Dogs |
