| I would ask for a barium swallow X-ray as a regular X-ray doesn't always show the object if there is one. Here is an example, my cat chewed the top half off of a baby bottle nipple. It did not show on an X-ray but with the barium swallow there it was plain as day. |

| If it is blockage, she would be throwing up non stop, won't even be able to keep water down. It will show in an x-ray if it's still in the stomach, but if it has passed down to the intestines, only a barium study will show if there's indeed a blockage. Yes, the vet can tell by palpating if there's some sort of foreign material. I've had a horrible experience w/Momo having a blockage from ingesting a queen palm tree seed (which is toxic) & he had to have surgery in the ER. We also did ultrasound, endoscopy w/no luck. It was discovered when the vet palpated his stomach & it was lodged in the entrance of the small intestines. Hope she'll feel better & you'll find out what's wrong w/her soon.

| Wanted to send my prayers for Halo too. It could possible be some sort of a bug and would pass after some time? It was something like that with Magnus. In my case, trying to force feed him food/water seem to make him vomit more so I decided to just put a ice cube in his bowl and let him do whatever he wanted. Fortunately, he was more like himself the next morning and finally started to drink/eat again. The waiting part is the worst torture. I'm sure everyone here feels your pain. I really hope Halo gets better soon. Last edited by Magnus; 03-23-2010 at 08:46 PM. |

| She seems to feel better; more active, but, she is on anti-biotics. She's peeing because of all the fluid he gave her, but she still refuses to eat, therefore, no poop. Tomorrow will be a whole week! I'm a little upset because he hasn't run any test on her, even though I don't know what kind he would run. This morning he told me he would do an enema if I wanted him to.....he's the vet, shouldn't he say if he thinks she needs one. He doesn't need to make me feel better, he needs to get her better! He's in surgery right now, but, I've left message for him to call me when he's out. I just want him to know how worried I am, and that I think he needs to do something. My daughter and coworker think I should go to another vet....it's just that he's always treated my yorkies and I've never had any problems; till now. I really could use some of my yt friends advise.

| After almost a week of no answers I would insist he do an ultrasound or something that will allow him to view her upper and lower intestines. This is truly going on too long. IMO. I am glad she's playing but she also has to eat. A lower GI series may help as well. You need answers and if I didn't get them from my vet I would go to another. It's frustrating to change vet's I realize but it's been almost a week of no eating and no poop. Somethings not right. Good luck and I truly hope you get an answer very soon. |

To Halo's mommy, I would go see another vet. When Momo (yes, him again) was a pup, he had respiratory infection for 4 months. I saw 3 different vets & the 3rd one upped his anti-biotic dose which cured him. That would drive me bonkers, when the vet doesn't tell me what's going on...

| Thanks everyone. I'm going to check on her at noon and give the vet a call. I did talk with him about an hour ago and let him know how upset I am. He said we will do x ray or whatever to find out whats going on with her. I've decided if I'm not happy with his actions this afternoon, I will see another vet. I'll keep everyone informed.

| I agree with above poster. A week is too long with no real answer. Sounds like you are on the right track. Keep us posted. |

| Ok, she's back at the vets now. He is going to do an enema. I asked about an ultra sound or x-ray, but, we're going to she how she reacts to this. If she's not eating by tomorrow, I'm planning to see another vet. Hopefully, the enema will do the trick. Will update later.

| That poor little girl. What she's being put thru! I'm hoping she'll be just fine. It's so strange how they can bounce right back sometimes.
