| Please help -- not eating and vomits when does it... very scared I am writing with a question, to see if you have any thoughts. My sisters 3 year old yorkie is very sick. He has been losing weight for the last 6 months or so, and is just skin and bones now. He vomits all the time and is not digesting his food properly it appears. My mom and sister have taken him to multiple vets and haven't gotten much answer. They did blood work last week and his levels were elevated (liver and others), but not elevated enough to zone in on a specific problem, just enough to tell them that he is sick. Next steps would be as the vet set, potentially thousands of dollars of testing. They do not know what to do. Do you have any suggestions of foods they can feed him even that would be very healthy for him? Or even appealing to him? The vets have put him on several antibiotics to rule out infection, and have had him on several prescription foods that he'll eat for a day or two and then stop eating. He is basically starving to death and when he does eat, he throws up. It's horribly sad. He can't eat chicken I know, and I know they've tried a lot of things. Maybe even does anyone have ideas of natural or homeopathic things that might be able to help him? Thanks in advance for any thoughts you may have. My family is just heartbroken watching him decline, so we're doing all we can to try to find a way to help him Thanks in advance for any thoughts you may have. Cheryl

| Omg what a shame. Your sister must be frantic, I would be. Have the vet's done an upper and lower GI series? Could it be pancreatitis or other gastric problem. I don't understand why they can't figure this out. Sonagrams, xrays, etc should show something. Might be a blockage as well. What kind of vet's can't figure this out? Sending prayer's for this little one. I would guess blockage of somekind. Find another vet and good luck for this little one. |

| Do you have a vet school in your area? They do not charge as much and should be able to find the problem.

| this usually creeps up in dogs with ibd - has your dog had intestinal issues for whole life? Intestinal Lymphangiectasia Lymphangiectasia epi comes up in dogs with pancreatitis over and over Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency in Dogs (EPI) and ple comes out of no where usually Protein Losing Enteropathy in Dogs (PLE) due to age 3 is a little old to be liver related as you would have seen symptoms usually by that age but here is info for that Portosystemic Shunt (Hepatic Shunt) in Dogs liver shunt is low protein diet but ple is high protein so need to know more with blood work and time is of the essence with this little one as if it is ple it is very serious Holistic Veterinarian Pet Nutritionist Holistic Pet Care is a nutritionist for dogs and she will review blood work and do consult - many with ple and epi consult with her for diets on here |

| So sorry to hear about your poorly baby. Has your vet exrayed to rule out a tumour, this would also cause this symptom's,I had a little cocker spaniel the same the vet eventually found a tumour,Try a little boiled salmon or other fish mashed to see if you can get hin to keep this down,Or mash some butcher's meat losf with a little warm water, also a little scrambled egg,A little live natural bio yogurt will also help his digestive system,I hope he is feeling better soon hun. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | Hey Im really sorry your wee doggie is ill, Please get a really good vet that can help... I loss my Wee Cassie in Jan 2010 and it started off with sickness of vomiting 3 times a day and she wouldnt eat or drink she was sick for near three months before she died. vets too didnt know what it was and just kept sending me home with meds. Vets told me to sit it out and hopefully she will get better dont do this if the vet isnt helping your dog forget about them and go sumwhere where the vet cares. My dog was 4kg and this went on for near 3 months til she was 2.4kg when she died. dont trust a vet trust your heart in what to do. I loss my best friend and never found out what she died off but on here has helped and they all think it could have been protein loss. So plz get to a good vet ASAP. Hope and praying for you.
