(just now seeing this) LadyJ - that was interesting about the 'sticky' gums - I always thought it was color that you looked at - I hope Duchess will be completely ok and nothing permanent was done to her insides...you may want to research good / different food for her also....some on the market are just awful - but I'd ask the vet or opinions before just going out and buying something... | |

| Checking for sticky gums is new to me, too. I usually check to see how the skin rebounds (not sure if that's the right way to describe it). Checking the gums seems more accurate. Thanks Linda!

Dehydration can be is usually checked by the skin elasticity, how quickly it bounces back when pulled. I usually check at the neck area.

| You can do that, but ask your vet....gums are the quickest and imo best indicator. I learned that long ago from my vet.
