| Please say a prayer for chloe Last night I had to rush Chloe to the vet as she was stumbling around, falling over, and was kinda twitching. they ran a tox screen did an ekg, and some other testing but the results were inconclusive. They kept her over night so that they could monitor her, and do another test after she had fasted 12hours. the doc is pretty sure it is a liver shunt...I am heart broken and cant stop crying, But she told me it could be a micro shunt vs. a macro (?Believe those are the terms she used) And if its micro she should be able to go on a specific diet w/medicine otherwise surgery will be required..She is 6mo old and has already become my world, so any prayers you can send her way would be great..thx-Chris

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I'm so sorry . I hope you get conclusive answers and that your girl will be okay. Liver shunt is not really my area, as neither of my babies have had it, but there are some very helpful folks here who can help and offer support, in terms of testing and diet suggestions. These are things you could print off and then discuss w/ your vet, who is probably already on top of everything. Keep us posted. Good thoughts coming your way.

| there are three different types of shunts one liver shunt which can be repaired mvd which is mutliple tiny shunts in liver cannot be repaired but dog lives normal life on low protein diets and if symptoms takes things such as lactulose, denamarin (milk thistle and sam-e) acquired shunts which is usually if one is not fixed then it blows more shunts to accomodate the body with a shunt and this happens when older usually and one shunt not repaired early on and these cannot be repaired so why important to fix if one shunt early on |

| hey everyone still havent heard anything just yet but i have been reserching all moring so i am better prepared for asking questions.. her first round of blood tests came back inconclusive and although she was low in some asreas and higher in others she was still in the normal range...hence why they wanted to fast her and do another type of test. but in looking at all this stuff today i came across a video on you tube called wobbly yorkie and it is like watching her the exact same thing. she says her blood tests came back normal too. so im gonna ask about hypoglycemia, cerebellar hypoplasia, and wobbles. ill update everyone when i know more later today..and thank you all for your prayers.
