there are three different types of shunts

one liver shunt which can be repaired

mvd which is mutliple tiny shunts in liver cannot be repaired but dog lives normal life on low protein diets and if symptoms takes things such as lactulose, denamarin (milk thistle and sam-e)

acquired shunts which is usually if one is not fixed then it blows more shunts to accomodate the body with a shunt and this happens when older usually and one shunt not repaired early on and these cannot be repaired so why important to fix if one shunt early on
