| Yes Liver Shunts can affect hair growth. Liver Shunts can also affect the way their hair looks and feels. Skin can also be affected. My Gizmo had very dry scaley skin. I could not let his hair grow out any because the dry skin would get matted.

| Gizmo was almost four before I found out he had a Liver Shunt. After having the surgery I was told that his liver was very small and very damaged. He did come through the surgery, but developed Pneumonia from aspirating when coming out from under the gas and was just too weak to fight. I have pictures of him in my album from before and a couple of him at UT before I lost him. I am not sure you can tell anything from them. When I took him to UT they told me that the liver shunt could cause his skin problems. They scraped his skin while at UT, he was going to see the dermatologist there, but did not make it. I wish you the best of luck with your baby. I know the pain and fear that you are feeling. I will pray for her. If I can help any more please let me know.
