| Help! My little girl may be sick! Last week, we were scheduled to have our sweet puppy LucyLiu spayed. We chose to have the optional blood work done and her STPT number came back abnormal at 150. Then my vet ran a Bioacids test and her numbers were 1 and then 67 after food. My vet had us take Lucy for a sonogram and it came back as normal. We were advised to wait 30 days and retest while giving Lucy Denasyl. Does she have MVD or a shunt? We have been sick for a week now. She shows no clinical signs yet. Any advice? |

However, pray for the best. If she does have that dreaded disease, it maybe able to be controlled with meds. There is another thread under the injured & sick, discussing Bile Acids.

| Try not to panic yet. Just have her retested in 30 days. If her bile acids results are still high (normal is less than 25), she should get a Protein C test to rule out a shunt. Comparative Coagulation -- NYS Animal Health Diagnostic Center |

i would not do protein c as that is not very accurate at all and her bile acids are not over 100 and no symptoms - does vet have you feeding low protein of 22% as 22% for no symptoms 18% with symptoms - my girl is on 18% protein Last edited by dwerten; 01-14-2010 at 07:44 PM. | |

| Thanks so much for your knowledgable encouragement! I feel much better after reading a lot of the information on here. I havn't seen any symptoms other than she gets car sick occasionally when she is riding in her carrier. Other than that she is pretty normal neurologically and stomach wish. Just 26 more anxious days to go until retesting! |
