You know by now that Doc is straight and honest, if he didn't think there was hope, he wouldn't advise the treatment.

Mmmm, the article I posted said that most who get this affliction....are usually under the age of 4.....that older dogs have the resistance to fight it off.

Lissette, can I ask what type of soil you bought? Was it top soil, gardening soil, etc? I usually re-mulch and fill in holes with dirt I buy every spring. Now I'm very concerned about doing that. Give little Lola some extra smooches from me and my crew, ok?

You know, I bought Potting soil and it was Miracle Grow. I bought 6 to 8 bags at Lowes. Please be carefull. I am sure this is where she got this from.

I use this stuff all the time! I have a humongous bag in the garage right now. I'm putting that in the trash tonight!

better to not use generics unless absolutely necessary and why i use soloxine for dd because a client of mine prepares clients for fda and she said NEVER buy generic because that is where she sees the problems as the smaller companies are not audited as much as the bigger companies therefore they get away with stuff that the bigger companies do not - i had a client that was on thyroid meds for years her insurance would not pay for it so she went generic - ended up in hospital was so sick and they had no idea what was going on and she said the only change was switching to generic from this name brand thyroid med and once she went back onto her name brand thyroid med she was back to normal no issues so she told me never go generic too and pay the difference if insurance will not pay especially with thyroid as that is a very cheap drug. Obviously if money is an issue you have to do what you have to do

there is a coconut at whole foods that has strong antifungal and a nutritionist tells me to give it to mine when they have diarhea as my friend uses it too for her dogs and it is suppose to be excellent for this but i have not used it. I believe it is the Green shelled coconut - i will pull up her info and you can read it - she said to cut a whole in coconut and poor the water in a bowl and let them drink it and my friend said it works. This woman is totally against meds she follows food is your best medicine hypocrites (?) I bought the book but she was the one that told me about the dds plus and coconut oil i get now and she researches everything thoroughly - i will try to find info

Make sure you buy raw coconut oil. Google the word Coco De Creme (which is the best raw coconut oil I have found) and email the company that manufactures this product to find out which retail store in your area carries this product.

I would sure as hell NOT go against what the vets are recommending. Natural things are ok when used along with medical treatments. This thing that Lola has is nothing to play games with.

I don't know how these people are not sued for telling people to go against medical advice and give natural treatments when the treatments fail them. I have seen people recommend natural heartworm preventatives that have not been proven to work....and I often wonder WHO pays for the heartworm treatment when the pups get heartworms...and IF these people get sued. OR...if the poor pups are even allowed to be treated. I am not against holistic medicine, but I believe that it is not a substitute for good proven medicine.

I think they both have their place and I have seen it work in my dog with coconut oil and probiotics and i was skeptical myself but having seen these two things work wonders and then when i stopped all heck broke loose I believe it works now. No one is saying not to use the anti-fungal but supplementing with probiotics and coconut oil is done by alot and was in the whole dog journal which is a non-biased publication and many dog nutritionists recommend these things as well as human nutritionists. Many dogs and humans go through vicious cycles with antibiotics and not taking probiotics and once they stop the bacteria comes back with a vengeance even worse and i would think the same would be with a fungal infection

I do not discount the antifungal at all and definitely needs to take it but this dog has a poor immune system to have caught this to begin with as other dogs are not affected so supporting that immune system is going to be important and these two things are proven to be good for the immune system.

The hard part is most medical professionals and vets do not know much about nutrition and many times mask things with drugs and then things get worse - I wish more would take nutritional education after schooling as i know for vets they only take one class in nutrition and Hill's is the instructor of that and many vets make a ton of money on the food as it is a 40% profit to them - Now having said that it has worked wonders for my dexter the vet food so you have to go with what works with your dog and what you are comfortable with as the owner.
