| ![]() I really don't think all the sarcasm was needed. Someone was only trying to help and it turned into a pissing match. Now isn't this forum about people who love their dogs helping other people who love their dogs??? The PO wrote to help people and their dogs. The post gives instructions as to how many and how much how to everything, so take it for what it's worth but DON'T go bashing people who are trained in the medical field unless you know something they don't and are yourself trained in the medical field as well. And nancy1999 thank you for your post on page 2 on behalf of the OP it was very kind. |

No one "was" having a "pissing match" ...just not convinced. Some of us simply said ask a vet first. I personally would not feed any type of cotton ball to my pup if it ate glass. I would be on my way to a vet lickety split. I am not going to read information that I find to be odd without voicing my own feelings about calling a VET. There are a lot of people on YT who think they are vets and/or have no respect for vets. I see people advising people to ignore a vet's advice and totally think that is wrong. So...I speak my mind. Some don't like that, but I don't like their amateur vetting either. I find it dangerous for the pups. By they way, I DID ask the OP for her vet's name since I really would like to hear from a veterinary professional that this is indeed a valid way to treat a pup without seeing a vet. She has yet to respond. Nothing said here was a personal attack .. I don't even know her...or you for that matter. I am just one of the YTers that feel way too much advice is given online without the suggestion of a VET.

| ![]() Well I did say VET FIRST and you don't need her vets # call your own and ask the question. And the remarks about home spaying in my opinion were sarcastic and uncalled for. I do have experience in the veterinary field and I did not tell anyone to try it. However it is something that IS used for certain things. So rather then putting someone down for trying to help maybe you should do some research yourself by calling some vets offices and asking if that is something they ever do. And no I do not believe this is something just anyone should try without the advice of their vet. The point is the OP was only trying to help. I'm saying the manner in wich you responded was not very nice. |

First of all, the OP did not say to go to a vet until there was bleeding. Uhhh isn't that a bit late? She says in most cases all will be fine. I don't play with my pups' lives like that and as long as people are going to advise stuff like that on YT, I will voice my opinion. Let people reading it come to their own conclusion. Not sure what your experience is in the veterinary field, but not sure what it has to do with anything. My experience in the medical field tells me to take my pups to a vet before even thinking about signing on to a computer when I have an emergency. If my pup ate glass, it would be deemed an emergency in my book. I totally do not understand anyone giving advice that does not include taking a pup to a vet. How in the world would a person know for SURE that the cotton (if it was a valid treatment) was actually saving the dog's life? You sit and wait until the glass cuts the daylights out of the gi tract? Gotta love that....feed them cotton and THEN if you see blood call a vet??? I did call my vet and a couple of others. They ALL told me they would not advise any treatment like that. They would advise the person to bring their pupster IN. That is why I wanted to hear it from a vet. Since she said her vet advises it and since I also live in TX I was going to call him. Case closed and I am moving on. At least when people find this thread, they will see both sides and make a determination about what to do with their pups! ![]()
