| reactions to Heartgard Has anyone ever noticed a skin irritation on any of their pets after giving them Heartgard? One of my girls has a really bad patch on her front left side right next to where her leg joins the body. This is the second dose of Heartgard and I didn't notice anything after the first one.

| Heart Guard contains Ivermectin, is a bit risky. Especially if the dog is on the smaller side. I recomend Sentinel or Intercepter (they're pretty much prescribed according to weight). And dependent on how the mosquitoe infestation, tics, mites and parasites are in your area, how outdoor active you dog is, Revolution. There are vets that do not recommend Revolution or feel it is not necessary for a heartworm med, because of the area in which you live. So, the alternative is Frontline Plus or K-9 Advantics (each of these are a bit more accurate for administering according to weight). How I use it, is 24 hours before a bath I apply it (this is per vet instructions this is plenty of time to leave it on for it to work) the next day I give a bath. It's always worked for me. But, each person has their own preferance and it's up to what you and your vet have decided upon.

| Zhoie will be 11 mos on 25th, weighs 4.5. She Inceptor monthly and does fine with it. I apply Frontline Plus monthly for flea control. Vet advised I don't use any other brand but this. She just seems to act strange after I apply it...like she scurries/down low from room to room. Seems like she is a little sick from it or something. She never has actually been sick from it though. Talked to my vet about it and he says it doesn't get into the bloodstream.....said she is just aware it's on her and foreign. Which I translated to being a bit spoiled . At least that is what I felt like he was saying.
