Derby with Blood in his stool :( We believe Derby has a Cold, but then he did his business outside and it was quite soft- next thing we know he has to go again and it's nothing but blood :( I suggested we take him to the vet, but my husband says he's fine and to wait it out. He thinks maybe he took big of a poo, but with a loose stool, that wouldn't be it? He is sneezing, and has snot out of his nose. He seems stuffed up and is hacking. He's had diarreah. Now we find blood in his stool. Other than that he's been acting fine aside from more than usual whining and cying. He's been doing it during the night too, and seems to want more cuddles, and it's not like him to whine and cry like this all the time and keep us up at night. We figure it's his cold... thoughts? He's almost 4 months old. |
Bella just got over a bug. I gave her some childrens immodium AD for the poops, I didnt have any pumpkin on hand. She got where she wasnt eating her food had to fix some boiled chicken. Lasted about three days. But with yours hacking and having snot probably need to take it to the vet. 4 months is still young and if it was me I would go on to the vet. |
A four month old with blood in his stool needs to see the vet now. It could be that he ate something that he shouldn't have or it could be something very serious. Yorkies (esp. pups) can dehydrate very quickly when they have diarrhea anyway. |
He needs to go to the vet....I am sorry but if a human saw blood in their stool I would tell them they need to go to the doctor...a dog is no different...your little one could go down fast. |
I would take him to the vet right away if he has blood in his poop!!!! Good luck! |
That's what I said and my hubby said he's fine. He's "just sick with a cold" My husband is now making sure he puts Derby in a sweater and today we bought him a coat. It's getting pretty cold/windy around here (Ontario, Canada). Before he was thinking he didn't need to put Derby in anything until there was snow!! Poor guy has been shivering, and he had his hair buzz cut end of August do he doesn't have much to protect himself! I was putting him in a sweater. We got him a stylish coat, so now he's all bundled up. I can't exactly take him against my husband's will.... but since it happened on the road on our walk today, we don't have a sample for the vet :( My husband said "we'll see keep our eye out over the next few days", but I just want to make an appointment after the holiday. Call me a Mom! but if you guys say GO that was my first instinct!! He's just a puppy!! Who knows it could be something else? A cold, and something else...? What does blood in the stool usualy mean? It was bright Red. |
I would suggest the vet for sure!!! I'm sorry but I'd go against my husband on this one. Especially in such a young pup. |
The next few days?!?!?!?!?!?!?!:eek: If you share the pup, then take your half to the vet. His half will have to come too. :) What shots did he have and when? |

He just finished his last round of shots last week, (or was it 2 weeks ago?) recently anyway. The next vet visit should be to get him fixed at 5/6 months the said. Between the breeder and us, we've had... It's amazing he has a cold, after having the influenza shot??
