| Kingston has been having diarrhea since he got neutered I took Kingston to get neutered on Wednesday. Since then, he's been having diarrhea. I brushed it off the first night he came home after the surgery because I figured it had something to do with the anesthesia I fed him boiled chicken and brown rice to see if that would help, but it doesn't seem to be working. I tried pumpkin, but he won't eat it. He's been going quite frequently, and I'm starting to see blood in his stools. I know his anus is probably sore from going so much. I feel SOOO BAD for him. It makes me so sad to see him like this. Has anyone experienced this with their yorkie after surgery? I'm calling the vet to see if he can prescribe me something. Please help!

| Hi everyone, sorry I didn't update you guys sooner. Kingston is doing fine. That morning I gave him some pepto bismol. I read on another thread that it's ok to give yorkies pepto. Anyways, the diarrhea stopped after that. He went poop after a few hours of giving him pepto. His poop was more firm. After keeping him on boiled chicken and rice plus the pepto, he is doing well. Today he only pooped once so I think he's ok. He's playing and running around. At the same time I'm limiting his activity cause he just got neutered. I've been forcing him to rest. It's kinda hard with these babies since they love playing so much. Anyways, he's sleeping right next to me right now. I stayed at home the whole day keeping an eye on him. It's 9p here and I haven't even had my own dinner yet. Thanks for all your concern.

| Just seeing this Poor Kingston, I'm glad he's feeling better. Momo had the same #2 problem after he got neutered. It's from stress being in the hospital, neurogenic. I'm a little late, but here's a *(warning, pics of #2) graphic* link: DIARRHEA IN DOGS AND CATS - General Topics - ThePetCenter.com - The Internet Animal Hospital BTW, brown rice is harder for them to digest...white rice should do the trick. Binds everything up. Aww, sweetie...you should eat something!=)

| whoa i didn't know brown rice was bad for them. i thought i read that you were supposed to give boiled chicken and brown rice. i thought white rice is bad for them. good to know...i'll keep that in mind now. ugh i feel like such a bad daddy. good news is that hes feeling better. jenny- thanks for the insight about stress from the hospital. that explains a lot. kingston HATES going to the vet. i think it's because there are so many animals there and it can get loud. when i dropped him off, he wouldn't stop barking. he looked so scared. i was so close to changing my mind about having him neutered. but i know this is all for the best.
