| I am taking him to the ER vet if he deteriorates in anyway, right now he's completely fine and we've been advised by his vet that if he's playing, eating, drinking and not lethargic then he will be fine to wait until his appointment Monday and she can do tests then. She has also said it could be as simple as Gastritis (since Gucci is known for this) all the way down to an Ulcer or something like that. At this point we don't think it's Pancreatitis or any Liver issue as his tummy isn't bloated and he is not lethargic or restless nor is he uncomfy or anything. He's holding down food fine, and is drinking fine as well. It worries me, and he will go to the ER if for some reason he gets worse. However, right now I think he's o.k. His gums are good color, he's acting normal and everything. He just threw up once this A.M around 7 but not since then and hadn't thrown up for over 24 hours before that ![]() I still think this could be Gastritis from the food change (food intolerance) and the vet thought this could be it as well. We will see tomorrow... Thanks for all the well wishes guys ... |

I completely understand about your concerns, I was worried it might be pancreatitis as well but dwerten had explained the symptoms and Gucci just doesn't seem to fit those. Then I was worried about liver issues but, with liver problems the belly gets bloated and he is just normal there... I am just confused about it and wanted to get other opinions in the meantime. There may be someone who's experienced this type of thing and it was nothing or someone who's experienced it and it was something more serious ya know... Maybe they can help me somehow if there is. I'd definately want to know about those types of things. Gucci is my heart, and I will do whatever I need to that's within my power to make sure he's taken care of. Thanks again! I appreciate the feedback and concerns etc. It's nice to know people care.

| The 3 Musketeers Donating Member | How is your baby today? I do know from experience that changing a dog's food abruptly will cause them to get sick. I ran into the same problem that you did all of a sudden being forced to change dog food. I've got three dogs and two of them got sick. It took a few days before their tummy adapted but it was a mess until that happened. It was the small two dogs that got sick and not my cocker spaniel.

| Here's what I found googling: 1. Gastro intestinal upset 2. Pancreatitis 3. Hemorrhagic gastro (HGE) 4. Cancer 5. Ulceration of stomach 6. Rat sack poisoning 7. Brown snake bite or other snake Aw, Gucci little man...hope you'll feel better soon! It sounds like #1 or 5. Even tho it was the same brand of food, it should be changed gradually over a period of 5~7 days. Adrianna, you must've been worried sick! OMGoodness, if I saw blood...I would've freaked out & fainted.

| Hi Jenny... I Totally FREAKED I was just laying with him crying on our living room floor... ![]() Today his energy is up and he's holding down rice I haven't added anymore chicken today but I will later on this evening. I am also banking on #1 or #5 it sounds like either of those two from his symptoms. I wish I would have listened to my gut and got a few cans of the innova puppy until they got the bag in Then I'd know for sure if it was the food change or not. The owner was reassuring me he'd be just fine ... I should have listened to myself, because I know Gbear is sensitive. Quote:

| Donating YT 30K Club Member | Sorry Gucci is having tummy problems. My Cali has a lot of tummy problems and most of the time she has some runny poop and a little blood. When she had HGE she was very lethargic and very sick looking. The couple of times I tried changing her food she got like Gucci and was better in a few days. I hope he feels better soon.

| I'm sorry to hear Gucci is having issues. I would also be concerned about the bright blood in his vomit. This does not sound like something that changing foods would cause, but I guess you never know. If you know he has a sensitive tummy/digestive system, I would definitely get him started on a quality probiotic and plan to make this a normal part of his routine forever. I would still take him to the vet and begin with a full blood panel. Then, if anything is out of line, follow up as needed with the Spec Cpl or whatever else is indicated. If everything is normal, then you will have paid for peace of mind (which can be priceless)!!!!!! Hugs to you both!

| Be careful with chicken jerky!! Maybe you make your own...which would be different; but there have been problems with chicken jerky from China. It has killed many pups. A friend of mine had hers on it and I told her...she said it was an ok brand, but when she read the label closely she found out that it was made in China. If you did not make your own, check the label closely! I noted that you fed him chicken jerky prior to this recent problem.

| Therapy Dog Donating Member | Oh no my Smoocharooni. You hav gotten great advice from Debbie and Jodie and now my two cents as well. Izzy has IBD/pancreatitus and SIBO. She also threw up blood in May which freaked me out and off to the vet we went. She was admitted and stayed for 2 days with IV and no food. She was also throwing up bile and not so much the ugly D as throwing up with the blood. She was put on Tylan and bland diet. This is nothing to mess around with and for sure take him to your vet first thing in the morning. If it were just a food change it would only be the ugly d and not blood. That is a warning sign that something else is wrong. I'll be praying for our buddy and hope that he gets well soon.

Patti - From reading your response I think that this is Gucci's case but he indeed is attending his vet appointment tomorrow just to be sure. He didn't throw up at all yesterday and only once about 7 am today so hopefully he's on the mend. I am so sorry you have tummy problems with Cali too... Gucci is ALWAYS at the vet for tummy problems, I think I am signing up for Petplan tonight just because it gets so costly. LuvMySissy - You hit the nail on the head!! your peace if mind is Priceless.. so he is attending tomorrow for sure. What exactly is a probiotic? He does have an EXTREMELY SENSITIVE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM and has episodes of vomiting when it happens. His Bloodwork has been done a couple of times and he's been fine each time, so the vet says he has a sensitive system and gastritis is usually the cause of his sickness. LadyJane - No Worries the chicken jerky he had was from Konas Chips here on YT and it's USA made he just couldn't handle it

make sure if they do blood do it one time and do the spec cpli and make sure they do the inhouse one for that as the lab one takes 3-4 days -- i am a firm believer in if you are doing blood draw from jugular do everything as that is stressful on the dog to get it done over and over Last edited by dwerten; 08-16-2009 at 06:29 PM.

| I am with you on the blood vessel theory, it could be something like that as well. That was my FIRST thought then I started pondering other things. GUCCI has NOT thrown up ANYMORE today and is doing fine right now, he's active, playing, eating, drinking, and still resting as he normally would. Nothing unusual in his behavior. He is awaiting his trip to the Dother lol tomorrow.. I always tell him I am taking him sue da dother and he lays his head on my chest like a baby.. so cute!Anyway he's doing well right now and still holding everything down like yesterday so maybe this is passing now.... I hope anyway ![]() Are all Yorkies this sensitive? this lil guy scares me so stinkin much Thanks for all of the Support and Yorkie Prayers!! I think they are working their magic ![]() ![]() Quote:
