It starts out yellow orange with food that you can tell has started to digest, then by the time she gets to #8-12th throw up it begins to turn white and foamy

Tonight she vomited and there was digested food. She has ate really good this afternoon. I was reading online about something called megaesophogus (spelling?). Is anyone familiar with this and if so, does it sound possible? Also, would she have the same reaction to too much sugar as opposed to too little sugar? She has been doing better since the last vet visit but seems like it last 3-4 days of her doing good and then she has a couple bad days. I greatly appreciate the input!

I've seen dogs with megaesophogus but it is rare. An internal medicine specialist should be able to diagnose her if she has this condition. Actually a regular vet could get an idea if he took an x-ray of her neck area but a specialist should really be seen.

SO the vet things she has acid reflux because of the vomiting?? My older yorkie....4 years 7 lbs and every so often she throws up yellow bubbly stuff. I just thought it was stomach bile. She doesnt do it very often. Maybe 2-3 times a month. But then I was reading this.

Has the vet sent a stool sample to the Lab? I'm not talking about in house lab, I mean actually sent it out. Someone else posted about a bacteria, maybe thats it.

i hate to throw this out there but i would go to internal medicine specialist and have a work up as my concern is liver shunt as hypoglycemia and liver shunt go hand in hand and liver shunt and mvd are very common in tiny yorkies and yours is small. I would recommend cbc, pre and post biles, protein c test by an internal medicine specialist as most vets are not very up on liver issues in dogs and can be passing off as hypoglycemic and it can sometimes be more serious as my dex had hypoglycemic and it was not vomitting it was more lethargy -- I think virginia tech vet teaching hospital is near you is that correct? call and see if they have internal medicine. Our vet feels all yorkies and maltese should be tested for liver shunt and especially a dog exhibiting some symptoms such as vomitting, head pressing, seizures, picky eaters -- i would at least rule it out

We was feeding her Canidae she stopped eating it, then Nutro puppy didnt like that, so we tried the Purina little bites since she actually eats that at my mothers, she eats that up. Yes it is always making some type of odd noise. Its so loud that say she is laying in my husbands lap and I have my head on his leg I ask him if it was him or her.

Hey everyone..my dad had to take her to the vet today because she was being unresponsive. I did not like what one vet told him so, he took her to another and they did an xray and tomorrow she is getting another one with dye and bloodwork. They are thinking it is either megaesophagus or liver shunt. The vet is leaning a little more away from the mega because of the xray but wants to be sure by running dye in her. I really hope they can give me an answer tomorrow I have been nothing but a mess all day at work, it is killing me I want my baby better . If it is the mega then they do not think she will be here long...I am going to loose it if it is that...

i have seen dogs survive years with megaesophagus. the one that sticks out the most was this really old basset hound. her owners were devoted to her and would do anything for her. After every meal they had to whole her up on a 45 degree angle to make sure all the food went down. they did this for at least 5 minutes each time i think, maybe more, i don't recall. this basset hound was huge but still they managed. She ended up passing away from cancer, which was unrelated to the megaesophagus. There is hope. Stay strong.

do not do the test for this until they rule out liver shunt as i have a feeling this is liver shunt or mvd

Megaesophagus is very rare and probably not what your dog has so test the liver and if liver is fine proceed with this test. all yorkies and maltese should have bile acids if having any issues to rule this out first since it is so common now in the breeds

Hey guys, today she stayed at the vet all day and it is not mega or liver shunt. She has chronic low blood sugar. So now we just have to give it time with a new special food and NutriCal.

We really appreciate everyones help and support. We will re-post if any changes and to let everyone know her progress.

Sorry I have not wrote anybody anything on other topics, its just I am a new Yorkie mom and I worry over everything because I dont want to see my baby sick.

so glad to hear its not either of the first suspected problems. Hypo is easier to deal with and hopefully she will out grow it.
