| Buddy did NOT have his cancer removed. Sometime last night he had a stroke. Or even a series of strokes. Vet didn't know how many or when or where in the brain or to what extent. And I don't have the $1500 for the mri I didn't want them to remove the cancer last week, I didn't want him to go through the pain. Then the night before last he fell down a couple of times. Last night he fell a couple more times, but still went on his walk. This morning there were no kisses, no drinking water, no wanting food. So the vet gave him Dexamethasone and Methylprednisolone. Told me that he could have another stroke in a minute or in a year. Or that he could die on the way home. On the way home,(40min drive) He sat up and was kissing my hand!!! The vet gave me Hill's a/d, he ate almost a half a can!!! He's NOT drinking water so I'll have to give that to him by syringe. The vet also told me to give Buddy some "Ensure" Has anyone used "Ensure on their 15yo Puppy? What can I expect from... the stoke? Ensure? Any info I can get I would most appreciate I'll be back in a little bit, have to go cry again |

| Oh dear I am so sorry to hear that Buddy isn't doing well. I do know that ensure is safe. It will just make sure he is getting his proper nutrients. We are keeping you and Buddy in our thoughts and prayers. What a terrible thing to have happen. Bless you little Buddy. Sending out a great big hug from Coco, Pebbles and Trixie.

| What an awful situation for you both. I am not sure about the Ensure- but our old vet would always say Piadlyte (sp) for nutrients lost. I will be thinking of you both and please keep us updated!

| My mother started drinking ensure a year ago. The docs told her that she would have to have a certain procedure every 4 months for the rest of her life. After starting the ensure the doc said he didn't understand but she wasn't going to need the procedure the last 2 times she saw him. She swears by the stuff. Also we had a little girl on a feeding tube in daycare and what we had to feed her was Pediasure. The kids version of ensure. My yorkie has had some of that before when she was under the weather. She really likes the strawberry flavor. |

| My heart breaks for you and your precious Buddy. He's at a time in his life we all dread in coming. I hope the Ensure helps your precious baby. My daughter drank if for the whole 9mo she carried my granddaugher because of all the nutrients in it. She could not keep anything else down and was so terribly sick during that time. Thank God for such a product. Prayer's coming for your boy that there will be no more seizures and he can just live the remaining time he has in comfort and contentment. Hugs, |

| Thanks everyone!! Buddy seems to be doing a little better today. He's been eating and has finally found his water bowl. His right back leg keeps going under him, so I try to correct it. Don't know if that will help, we'll see. Thanks again! |

| Ensure Did you know Carnation instant Breakfast drink is exactly the same as the regular ensure? and costs way less. Ask your Pharmacist about , mine is the one who told me about it. And compare ingredients. Last edited by lillymae; 07-18-2009 at 12:39 AM. |
