My yorkie is so sick and no one knows why Please tell me there is someone out there who can help. Our baby Victoria turned 1 yrs old on June 22...as a bday treat I gave her a strip of bacon.. I didn't realize this was bad to give to a 4.5lb dog. (now I do) next day she was vomiting, and her stool was bloody, took her to the Vet and her gave her a shot for nassuea and told us to give her boiled chopmeat w/white rice. The stool sample was fine and she had no tempature. Two days later she's vomiting puddles of blood, we rush to animal hospital that has an ER, they tested her for Pancrietis, coccita and a few other tests, ALL came back FINE they Animal hospital gave us Meds and told us to give her only boiled chicken and rice. So Fine we did that, she seemed back to normal, no more throwing up, however once the medicine ending she started up again. Took her to a new Doctor, he reviewed her records and he said there is nothing wrong with her. Said this is just her... Which is BS Now her stool is now Mucus, a bit bloody, I'm giving her boiled chicken, a few pcs. of Wellness, Pedialyte and for the first time today I gave her all natural fat free chicken broth about a Tablespoons worth. Sometimes she just stands there and looks confused, but shes getting plenty of rest, when other dogs come around shes running having a great time, then this. I stay awake with her and watch thru the night as she often gets up. Before we spend 2k on Diagnostics testing maybe someone can tell me which direction to go? I researched it could be liver shunts, worms (tested negative) to cancer... PLEASE HELP THANK YOU

I am so aorry to hear about your sweet baby. I would suggest doing the Bile Acid test to check for Liver Shunt. It is usually less than $100. and is very common in these little babies. I put off having this test done until my baby was over 1 yr old, and she did have a shunt. She had surgery in March and is doing great today. I would not let them do any other tests to test for the shunt (Ultrasound, etc.) as they are usually not very conclusive. Start with the BAT and go from there. Good luck and give your baby a kiss on the head from us ~~~ Valerie, "Lola & Harley"

Have you been to AERA in Fairfield, NJ? I would suggest making an appointment with Dr. Straus. I hope you get some answers soon.

| Can you post all of her bloodwork results? The way it came on makes me think pancreatitis but was HGE ruled out? How are her liver enzyzmes? High? She needs to be on an IV if she is still throwing up.

i would go directly to internal medicine specialist as this is not normal and the bacon could have caused pancreatitis. What meds did they give? The high fat in bacon could have caused the pancreatitis as this was a direct relation -- Your vet does not sound very good sorry she should have been fasted 48-72 hrs on iv fluids and no food at all. She has now relapsed because of this and this happened to my dexter as it was not handled right in the beginning so then they get more sick. Was the amylase nad lipase high? Were the trigylcerides high? Get the blood work from the vet There is an excellent internist Dr Greene in New Jersey but it is by referral only so pm me and my friend can put a referral in for you. Liver shunt is a possibility but i am leaning more to the pancreas since this all happened after the bacon. If it gets severe enought the dog can get diabetes or epi and my concern is the spaced out ness is showing a sign of diabetes. This is not just a normal upset vomitting blood and bloody diarhea what happens is when they get pancreatitis severe enough the pancreas can start eating the other organs and many can die from this - sorry to scare you but this is very serious Is she doing a prayer position with butt in air? is she tossing and turning as if not to get comfortable - these are all signs of pain as pancreatitis is very painful

Ok, this is increadible. You need to find a NEW VET ASAP Obviously she is very sick from the Bacon - she most likely has Pancreatitis, which is very painful and can be deadly How in the world a Vet doesn't know that and treat for it is beyond me. ----The only other thought is Liver Issues (Shunt)
