| Here's the latest UPDATE on Princess' condition: We took our dear Princess to the emergency last night. We tried earlier in the day, around 2:45pm, but the Dr. didn't get a hold of us after we called his answering service. We tried again about 11:15pm and he finally did get back to us. I further explained that now Princess pooped some blood, her energy was weak and just wasn't herself. It was obvious she wasn't feeling good at all. We left her there feeling slightly better as the Dr. said, without testing, that he didn't think she had Pancreatitis(sp?) and that she wasn't dehydrated. He did an 8 minute test for Parvo and that came up negative. Although the news was enlightening and more on a positive note, we were on the verge of tears having to leave our baby there. She was the only dog there and had the company of about 6-7 other cats. I asked the Dr. if this is where the cats are kept and dogs elsewhere... or if it was just a coincidence?... and he said it was only a coincidence. LOL! I called the Dr. this morning and found out some interesting news: She tested negative for Pancreatitis and tested positive for Ana Plasmosis(sp?). It's a tick born disease. Most likely she got sick from a woodtick. Woodticks are almost as thick as grass around here. We were picking them off of her daily for a while. Dr. said the blood was most likely from ulcers. The Dr. recommended for her to stay overnight one more night for the IV. We Prayed for her and asked others too as well. Princess is 12 1/2 years old and is spoiled in several ways. She does go with us for rides and I use to walk her at least 3/4 of a mile several times a week in the woods. She has at least a dozen Fido fleece jackets, many t-shirts, sweaters, raincoat and boots. She has almost 10 Fido fleece beds spread out the house for her sleeping enjoyment. LOL! While she has all the amenities and comforts a dog could have, she has an over-abundance LOVE! She is held often and is given many hugs and kisses. Thank you very much for your help and opinions. Take care and best wishes and Prayers to y'all. Matthias |

| I'm glad to hear you've gotten to the bottom of her illness and she's on the road to recovery. It's so hard for us when they are sick.

| Thank you everyone for your help, tips and concern about Princess. Today we finally picked up Princess and she's a whole NEW baby! She's revitalized and has more energy than before. She's barking again, eating and drinking fine. The IV's she was on did her some good. All her tests came out good. Dr., via a X-ray, found she has an enlarged heart... a form of congestive heart failure. He didn't seem to have much concern there, but he did prescribe a drug she's to take for the rest of her life. Thank you very much for your support. We are very appreciative for the feedback and advice received. The bountiful education and amount of information here is incredible. Take care and may God Bless you and your babies too! Matthias |
