| ![]() Just a few words.. I'm 16. I handle all my dogs expenses, including vet trips, vaccinations, and blood tests. I do pet sitting, which is where I get my money from. My parents give me an allowance which is used for going out to places, but the money I spend on my dog is solely from pet sitting. I've paid $250 for his adoption fee, $350 for his neutering, $50 for heartworm test, $100 for all his vaccinations/checkup, and another $100 for heartgard and flea meds (not to mention the hundreds I've spent on toys, treats, crate, etc). Just because I'm 16 doesn't mean I don't take responsibility for my dog. I decided I wanted him, so I have to make sure he gets what he needs (even if it means saving money in other areas). I believe the same goes for you. You got the dog, you need to take him to the vet. There is no excuse. I'm sure you can find a 24/7 clinic. There are plenty in my area. I researched dogs for 4 years before I got Scruffs. I had one before that, but he grew up with me and I still knew nothing about dogs. I had to research the necessary vaccinations, healthy foods and treats, toys, and other supplies they need. I researched what breed would be good for me. By getting a dog I knew it was going to be a BIG responsibility with a lot of sacrifices, but I knew that's what I wanted to do. I think you need to consider if you are ready for a dog, and if you are, then getting the dog to the vet is the first step. Once you do that, you need to research as much as you can on dogs. Their food, how to train them, socializing (I'm not sure how old your pup is), etc. I know I might have been a bit harsh here but I did HOURS and HOURS of writing essays to my parents, explaining everything I was going to get for him, house sitting/dog sitting for people, etc in order to get my dog. It frustrates me that other kids can just go out and easily get a dog without doing the proper and necessary research. I apologize for being so harsh. Oh, and if you need any help I'd gladly be able to tell you what I've found to be the best food, treats, training methods, exercising, etc. Let me know.

| ![]() Did he get nicked? My Scottie got nicked at the groomer once and he came home non stop licking, when I looked he had a small cut. |

YT Addict | ![]() Sometimes my dog itches like crazy when he comes from the groomer. They put some type of doggy perfume on him that drives him crazy. The itching usually wears off by the next day though. I'm surprised the groomer took him without any shot records. I have to provide shot records from my vet to my groomer before they will touch him. |

I am very impressed by your maturity. Some adults don't even take the time to learn and do the research you did. Your baby sure is lucky. I hope the OP will take your advise. And maybe since you are the same age, she will except your knowledge, as a mentor of sorts. | |

My furkids Donating Member | ![]() If he is itching all over, maybe he's having some sort of reaction to what ever they used on him. As everyone else has said here...I would bring him to your vet. I hope the little guy is feeling better soon.

| ![]() It is unusual that a groomer would even groom a dog without it's shot records. All of the groomers that I have used request proof that the dog is current on all vaccinations before they will groom the dog. ![]() |
