| Bruce's toenail was ripped out! Yesterday Bruce's toenail was ripped nearly all the way out. I am not sure exactly how it happened as he was playing at daycare when it did. They explained that he was playing and jumped onto the lap of one of the handlers and got it caught somehow on a chair (Bruce has gone their for 3 years and I trust that this was just a freak accident), but back on point. Once we got to the vet the vet finished the job he started and had to rip it out all the way. Bruce now has a little cast that looks like a ballet slipper, antibiotics and anti inflamatories and we go back to the vet on Saturday... My question is has this ever happened to anyone else? How long did it take the nail to grow back? He seems to be in a lot of pain is there anything I can do?

YT Addict | Poor Bruce!!! I am so sorry to hear that... Something similar happened to a dog in the neighborhood... they took him to the vet, got the cast and meds just like your baby... but his toe nail never grew back. I think he ripped out the base of the toenail where the nail actually grows from too... I hope your babie's nail will be better. If it hurts try to ice it somehow. I will be praying for his recovery. Keep us updated please.

| Ouch! That's gotta hurt. They do make pain meds for dogs now, if he seems too uncomfortable, give your vet a call. Good Luck, hope he gets well soon, and hugs & Kisses to Brucie!
