where exactly did he break the nail? is it close to the end, middle, or skin? can you take a clear picture? If you can't get to a vet and do not what to touch it, you should lightly wrap the area. this will put pressure on to stop the bleeding and prevent him from licking the area. it can get infected if not treated.

| Use quick stop to stop the bleeding. Unless he is dripping puddles of blood he should be ok overnight. My yorkie almost tore a toe nail off it was really loose (only thing I can think to compare it with is a loose tooth) it bled quite a bit but then he started clotting and a little quick stop nearly stopped the bleeding. When I took him to the vet there was nothing that could be done (you can't sew a nail to skin) so all healed on its own. Good luck! I hope he feels better |

| Put a bunch of Quik Stop on gauze have someone hold him while you do this. Take gauze and wrap up his foot and up his leg about 3-4 inches. Then wrap with tape. The Quik stop will stop the bleeding. Remember to not wrap too tightly. This will get him through the night. Call your vet first thing in the morning. My Sammy just did a similar problem with a nail 3 weeks ago. Hugs to you and your little one...
