| What great news! I'm so glad to hear the surgery went well.

| Well, I wish I could say that Zacchie is his usual bubbly self already, but he's not. He seems to be having a lot of pain, but some of it is probably because he's hasn't pooped since the surgery. Dr. Tim gave us a stool softener today, and I'll give it to him before bed. He's quite panicked when I put the collar on him, so I've stopped trying. He also isn't eating his food yet. I've been feeding him cooked chicken and rice and scrambled egg this morning, just to get him to eat. Doc says the pain meds affect their eating, and it's okay.

| Sorry to hear that Zacchie is still not feeling well. When Piper had her surgery she seemed to be back to her happy self within a few days, although it took her a few weeks before she started to use her leg. I kept her on the pain meds for a week. Piper likes to eat so she didn't miss a meal and we had no problem with constipation. I never used the collar on her. I put her in a longish tee shirt so that it covered the incision. I was amazed that she actually left it alone. She had the stitches in for 14 days. Hopefully Zacchie will be back to his old self soon.

| Zacchie is finally starting to act like himself. He is still not using the leg, and I figured out he had a really bad muscle spasm in it. After working the muscle gently, he can stretch it out properly. So I've been doing sort of physical therapy with him. He swam a bit yesterday, and I tried binding up the other leg to force him to use the bad one, but it's too soon. We'll give him a bit longer before we resort to those measures. He has lost quite a bit of muscle mass in his bad leg, so it might be a while before he can use it normally. He goes to get his stitches out on Friday morning.

| Piper took awhile before she was walking normally. It was a slow progression of small improvements. It took 2 weeks before she even set the foot on the ground. Once she started doing that I noticed she would start to put her weight on the leg when she was standing still. A couple weeks after that she would use the leg occasionally when walking, with no limp, but then start carrying it again. After about 3 months she was using the leg all the time in the house but always carried it when we went outside. I think it was the uneven ground. By the 4th month she was using the leg most of the time. It's been 6 months since the surgery and Piper is 100%. We take daily long walks and it doesn't bother her leg at all. Give it time and Zacchie will be running circles around you again.

Zacchie is very much a Daddy's boy, and Hubby hates to see him hurting.
