| post-surgical comforts Does anyone have suggestions on ideas or products you have used for your furbaby's post-surgical comfort? I was told today to use rice in a sock, heated in the microwave, as a heating pad. I also, have used the product "pro-collar" sugested by someone on YT rather than an "E" collar. I have filled a latex glove with water hung it around a glass to freeze then used it as an ice pack for my babies hip and leg. Anyone have any other comfort ideas? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Pain meds, first and foremost. Don't let your vet talk you out of them. Have a LOT of chews on hand - this will keep them busy, still, distracted. You could try DAP drops or the plug-in - "dog appeasing pheromone". There are herbal remedies that are supposed to be calming, but I've never tried them. GOOD luck and please keep us posted! Is it for LP or, what's going on w/ the hip?

| legg-perthes Widget had surgery on Tuesday. It was a long and dreaded day. The night was so bad. He cried and wimpered all night. The first post-op day was about the same but by night he was a little better. The second post-op day was like a miracle. He greated me with jumping up in his x-pen so glad to be alive. Who would have thought he would recover so quickly. He now has this little bunny hop when he gets out of his x-pen. He has had it with the pen confinement and just wants to get out and play. I still can't believe how quickly this came about. He has to lay low for 2 weeks then it's going to be better. He can begin to socialize again with his sisters. Thank you all for your encourgement and knowledge. Too bad I got so upset and wasted all that worry. I'll post a video this weekend of his "walk of recovery". Your such a great bunch of people. Love ya one and all. |
