| need help My dog broke the nail far back-past the quick sp? Its not bleeding, but more like cracked and bent. I'm going to bandage the foot to protect the nail for now, but if it breaks off and starts bleeding-is there a home remedy for quickstop or that stuff that stops bleeding? I thought it was corn starch, but dont remember for sure. |

| Corn starch or flour should work. If it is bend and cracked all the way down, you may need to see a vet.

| It would probably be best to call the vet. They might suggest trying to remove the nail if it is just hanging on.! I find cornstarch works really well to stop quick bleeding.

| My sister had something similar happen to her black lab. The vet cut the nail back as far as he could and then applied some type of glue to prevent it from getting ripped off as it grew out. |
