| puking and cant hold her food down I have a 1 year old yorkie that was just recently spayed and about a week after the surgery she started puking up clear liquid and foaming and she wouldn’t eat. I got her to eat some food and she puked that all up and had diahhrea. I took her into the vet and he said she had an uti and she was monitor by them for a two days and told me she kept everything down. She’s on an antibiotic now for her uti but she’s still puking. We are now feeding her a special dog food but still puking. Any ideas? |

| What food are you feeding her? What is her weight? Do you trust this Vet? |

| Take her to a different vet. I had this happen to me and it turned out my little girl had to have another surgery. You can bet that I did not let the original vet work on her again! Hopefully it is just an upset tummy. Let us know her outcome.

| It really would be in your best interests to bring her to a different Vet. Something is wrong, and I am sorry to say, but being that she had major surgery just a week ago, has developed a UTI and is throwing up non-stop - THIS IS AN EMERGENCY - you could loose her |

| After surgery and all of this going on, I would hope they did blood work. If they haven't, they need to. Pancreatitis should also be checked for.

| So she has a UTI but was her complete blood count normal? Is the vet sure that her abdomen isn't infected? If she isn't getting better, more tests need to be done. I also don't think it would hurt to do a Spec cPL for pancreatitis. Has she eaten anything out of the ordinary in the last week? It wouldn't be unheard of for something like pancreatitis (don't know that's what it is but the not being able to hold food down is concerning) because the it was touched during surgery and it can get "angry".

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Is the vet feeding the same at the office as you are at home? And, is she on an IV at the vet's? If yes, then her nausea at home could be related to dehydration - if the only difference is the IV. If the food is different, than that's obviously an issue. Also, is she swallowing weird or "hard" in general at all? I mention this bc my Marcel vomited on and off for about 10 days after his neuter. However, he was not "sick" at all and had an awesome appetite. The vet could not figure it out. But, I knew what was wrong bc he was swallowing so differently after the surgery. I believe his throat was damaged/irritated during the surgery/intubation - and afterward, I believe his gag reflex was being triggered/irritated. This healed after about 10 days or so. Continuous vomiting is very dangerous - and if you and the vet can't figure out what it's from, you truly have to get to a different vet asap.
