I amazed that any Vey would talk over the phone about a serious illness before even seening the animal or running tests? The diagnoses is alarming, and it not even confirmed... How were you to talk to the breeder when the pup was bought from a pet store? i have A great vet for Suzi whi I awways take her to... He would not guess on what is wrong with her without doing specific tests, because he knows how devasting a sick animal is, and how stressful it is to the owners. :aimeeyork I hope Buster has a better night then he had last night, I read that he became very ill and I thought he was not going to survive:( Poor little puppy has been through so much, and you guys have too. I honestly wish that he can stabilize.... |
I kind of doubt the over-the-phone diagnosis of LS. Typically, LS pups don't grow very well and Buster is 2 pounds at 7 weeks. It sounds more like severe hypoglycemia from the posts. It seems that it's been at least 4 days since he ate well. He would naturally have more of a problem with substantial foods since his stomach is so empty so that may explain the problem with the canned food. |
Here is a link to some useful information for ur little Buster : The Liver | B-Naturals.Com Newsletter Sure do hope he will be a healthy little fellow ..i would also check some of the meds they are giving him as they are also processed by the liver and could cause negative effects... bran bread homestyle just a little one inch square may be a better treat he may eat ..u could wet it in the cottage cheese ...and also pureeed real fruit like apple ... I love his name BUSTER BROWN :) |

I really hope he does not have a shunt, but it is a real possibility and something that is worth looking into. |

I have just finished reading all of the posts. Oh my gosh. I am so sorry your little guy is so sick. You are doing such a wonderful job with him but I wonder if he should be in a hospital. He is so very lucky to have you for a family. Yorkies can pull so very hard at your heartstrings. I will keep him and your family in my prayers. Hang in there little guy! Please keep us posted!! :animal-pa |
How is Buster today? I have been so worried about him since I read your post last night that he still wasnt doing well. I am keeping him in my thoughts and prayers. Hopefully your vet will find out what is going on with him. |
How is Buster this Morning? Please get him to the vet this am and have them give him IV fluids and a blood panel. |
Checking for a morning update, too. Buster's YT family is pulling for him! :ghug: |
Just checking for an update on little Buster, we are in a different time zone over here so I tend to catch up later than everyone else!!I bet you are just so worried about him with all the if and buts of what is going on , hopefully your visi to the vets will make things clearer. We are thinking of you and hope that it's not LS :animal-pa |
Just checking in this morning. Hope the new vet helps! God Bless! |
Buster is at the vets. He is undergoing blood work and they are going to keep him today for observation and they are awaiting the results of the blood work. My husband and I are both at work today and we will be calling periodically with updates from the vet. As soon as we hear something we will post. Even though he is such a sick baby we have already started seeing his strong personality! We have been feeding him through a syringe since Sunday. First the baby food with the cottage cheese, then the can food with cottage cheese and the baby food. We have also been giving him pedialite through a syringe and giving him Nutri Cal 4 times a day with his antibiotics. Even with doing all of this the little guy is still so weak and shaky. It breaks our hearts and we hope they can tell us what is wrong with him. He has been suffering for days! |
No news yet? The mentioned they were taking him to the vet this morning right? |

Thanks for updating us. Little Buster has stolen our hearts and we are all so worried about him. I pray you get some answers soon. |
Im releived to hear he is at the vets and they are running test, My continued prayers are with you all :aimeeyork |
it's crazy Like my wife was saying. He is so up and down. Yest when we switched him from Baby food to can food he hit the floor. as soon as we switched him back yest afternoon he was alot better by night. He walked around last night and past the food better then he ever has. Little runny but you could tell it was starting to get harder every pass. He was up most of the night. I guess was more rested andhad more energy since we took him off the can food. He was very alert this morning "compared to the way he was" and seemed to hold himself up better. He has stayed more consistant since we took him off the can food. I It is starting to seem like the same story everyday though. I hope the doc will do some good test today and find out how to make him better for good. I hope it's not the shunts but if it is then it is. there will be heck to pay for the breeder but we will not turn our backs on him he will be apart of this family either way. |
Ladymom is right, Buster has stolen our hearts! I am so glad he is at the vet, and that you are taking the time to keep us updated - thank you! Wishing Buster all the luck for his results today, and sending him a big hug and kiss! |
I'm praying all goes well for little Buster at the vet's today. Sending lots of hugs your way! |
Like we've been saying all along, Buster has been extremely lucky to have found you , you and your wife are doing a great job and trying all that you can possibly do, I'm sure not every body would had been as dedicated as you two, they would had just taken him back to the pet store and get a refund. |
I hope Buster is better......... I really hope that Buster is doing better and that his tests turn out good. Hopefully he will just need to be fed every few hours for the next week or so, until he eats more on his own. Definately try the canned pumpkin when his stools get runny. It works wonders, since he is too small for metronizonale. I am not big on giving my little one that since he is so tiny, but it might be an alternative if the pumpkin doesn't work. Good luck and hang in there! |
I'm looking at lil Busters pic & is it just me or does he look younger that 8 weeks? |
I got off work for lunch at 11:00 am. I called the vet as soon as my husband picked me up. They said he was doing ok and that the vet was going to be in to take the blood work shortly and they would call us back. We ate lunch, went to the pet store to talk to the owner and while we were in the store the vet called. Buster passed away before they could get the blood work. I am so heartbroken I can't put it into words. I feel guilty that he was there all by himself when he died. I cannot go back to work I am so distraut. It is amazing how that little creature grabbed a hold of my heart. I am going to do some real soul searching for the next little while and try to decide whether I want to try to get another dog or not. I'm not sure if I want to risk putting myself and my family through another experience like the one we have just went through. We appreciate all of your advise and good wishes. Thank you so much for your support and understanding. |
Oh, I am so sorry! My sympathies are with you. RIP sweet Buster. |
