| Make sure that if you feed baby food, ethere is no onion extract or garlic content in it.

| I am so sorry that something that was to be joyous, is turning out to be so incredibly difficult. I'm sorry you are learning about the horrors of pet stores that sell animals & the breeders that supply these animals the hard way. I do not doubt that you are doing everything possible for this poor little guy. The vet is right to keep him confined to just a few people. He isn't strong right now - plus if it is parvo - you will have it in your house. You want to limit where he is for sure. I pray he doesn't have parvo. Please know there are many reputable breeders out there & not everyone is like these people you are dealing with.

| Hi there and welcome to YT . I am sorry your family is going through so much with this little puppy. Everybody is correct by letting you know that he is way too young to be away from his littermates and mother, let alone being sold in a petstore My concern is that the reason why the pup is not eating is because he is sick, already... therefore, when he eats , vomits then is getting more dehydrated.. Parvo is deadly to young pups and hoping this is NOT what is happening to this little pup. PLacing Kayro on his gums and offering him water at all times is good, and I would definately try and get him in to a emergency vet ASAP. the test for Pavo is very simple, then if he has it he can be treated right away, or you are going to have to make some other very tough choices about the pup. It is common for a pup to have difficult reactions when placed into a new home , however this little one is way too young , and the voiting is what concerns me very much. He is not going to have a bowel movement if there has been no food in his belly to digest. He will also want to sleep because he is unwell. I wonder if he has a fever? that is why I feel like the best thing to do is to get him into a 24hr emergency vet , Just so they can rule out any major illnessess, and possibly have rehydrate the puppy with IV fluids. He is so young and tiny that he does not have a lot to lose in his body, which is very dangerous. Again, it is very important to keep the puppy warm too. Try to take him to an energency vet hospital.

| I didn't read any of the responses, but that sounds exactly like what happened to my baby Chip. Chip was 7.5 weeks old and 2.6 lbs. The "breeder" told us he could eat hard food and we tried to get him to eat several times and he would try, but it would fall right out of his mouth. He threw up a total of 10 times and we took him to the vet. He ended up with hypoglycemia from not eating and almost died. On the way to the vet he was laying in the passenger seat shaking all over and his tongue was limply hanging out of his mouth. They gave him some wet food, some medicine, and some nutri cal and he perked up and has been good ever since. Try giving him some wet food... at this point, don't worry about the quality of food... just any wet dog food. I know some people have had luck getting their dogs to eat beneful. Try feeding baby food (check to make sure there is nothing in the ingredients with onion or garlic - VERY important). Feed plain yogurt, or boil some chicken breast (no bones) and white rice - nothing added.

| 1st time This is the first time I have bought a expensive breed of animal. I am aware of how this works now. We have been "trying" to feed him hawian delight it is not a veg it is more of a fruit mixture. The vet said that if he had parvo he would have blood in his vomit and stool. I hope this is true. |

| It's difficult to acclimate any pup to a new home. Bonding with him and making sure he eats are your main priorities at first. It's not so much that your pup is an 'expensive' breed, but more that he's a toy breed, very small and without large energy reserves. From your posts, it sounds like he hasn't had much TLC in his short life so he may just not know how to take to it yet. Just make sure he eats (you may have to hand feed him) and gets Nutri-cal or at least syrup to keep his blood sugar up. I certainly hope he has no other health issues but, until you see the vet, just makes sure he eats, gets plenty of water and stays warm. BTW, congratulations on your new pup. Yorkies are the best and hopefully soon you'll see just what a joy they can be. Best of luck. |

| puppy Really sorry to hear about your pup. You are doing a wonderful job so far and I hope he comes around soon. Shakiness can be nervousness too. It sounds like he had alot of changes in the past little while. Being taken away from his mother, then all his siblings leaving. Being in a strange enviornment, not knowing what's going to happen next. I hope your vet visit goes well and he tests negative for Parvo. Some Yorkie's are definitely more sensitive than others when it comes to their food. My first Yorkie was only 2 1/2 pounds full grown and it was work to get him to eat every day. If they go too long without food, it only worsens the situation as they get nauseous, vomit bile and then don't feel like eating when THAT is what is making them sick to begin with!! Good luck and let us know how he's doing.
