I hope someone with a wonderful heart will step up soon and help you find a new baby. I agree it will fill your hole in your heart. You guys are TERRIFIC parents and everyone on this site knows it..... |
I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of baby buster brown. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. RIP little man.:animal-pa |
the pet store I just left the pet store with a copy of all the papers from the vet. They said it would be no prob to get a refund on the vet bill and the price of him. I told them straight up that I will not be purchasing another dog from them and after doing some research I find out that most pet shop buy there dogs from a mill and I refuse to buy from a mill and hope they can find a more responsible breeder. My wife and I also looked up yorkies needing homes and we found that there was a bust 30 min from our home in Caruthersville MO. They found a mill with between 60 and 90 dogs. They had never seen sunlight or ever been grommed and most had gone cage crazy they called it. You can go to missouri hum society and see the video. After seeing this video I believe we are gonna try to rescue a dog. Our goal will be to find out more about these mills and find one that is in need of a good home. One that is one the edge of the time limit in shelters. What ever case it may be. Hell me might even get 2. I feel for all of these guys and I be damned if I will ever be taken advantage of by another puppy mill. Just watch the video! My wife is taking this very hard and I have too. Thank you all for getting us educated in this. I hope to keep a long relationship with all of you and I want to say one thing to Jim!! I wish I would have called you!! I feel so guilty!! I just feel like you had the answer we needed and we didn't take advantage of it. Maybe there is nothing we could have done but i just want to appoligize to Jim personaly. For anyone that is new to this site like me LISTEN TO EVERYTHING THESE PEOPLE SAY. It could make the difference!!!!!!!!!!! You are all the greatest!!!!!!!! Brandon Brown P.S. We will be getting another Yorkie! |
I am so happy you were able to get your money back and we are proud that you have decided to rescue!!!! Best Wishes to the Brown family!!! |
refund I haven't actually received it yet but they claim that it will not be a problem. |
I am so sorry for your heartbreaking loss. You did a wonderful job of trying help him. I hope you find a wonderful new healthy friend to love in the future. RIP Buster Brown. |
Please take the puppy right away to a vet. When we got our puppy she was a little over 8 weeks old. A good breeder will not let a puppy go before 8 weeks so who knows where the puppy store got the puppy. i will be aware of that store since its obvious that they do not care about the puppies and they just wanted to get it sold and now you are facing the problem. Do not wait any more or until tomorrow take the puppy now and let us know how the puppy is doing. Good luck! |
I'm so sorry :( Poor Little Buster. I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm amazed that the petstore is refunding your money and paying for the vet bills, but that is great. I would not want another puppy from that breeder or petstore either...that breeder has liver shunt in his lines and I wouldn't want to take that chance again. |
I am extremely sorry for your loss of little Buster. you guys did try your best and do all the right things for this little puppy. It is heartbreaking that he could not survive and lost his life ;( Your plans are notable and I am glad that when your family is ready to adopt or rescue , it will be A Yorkie or two. This breed is absolutely amazing and full of energy and love. It is so upsetting that your family was robbed such a joyful experience of yorkie love and happiness of having a healthy pup ... That is a tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with your family, and LIttle Buster RIP. It is totally understandable not to rush and think about getting a Yorkie right now. Everyone needs time to grieve for this precious life of Buster. WHen the time is right , your plans will be put into action. It is good that the petstore is willing to refund all the money and vet costs. I would nOT ever get anther pup from them again either. Hell No . Not after all that happend , it pissess me off that those places would sell A pup this young and ill , for profit and not consider the health and well being of a little Puppy :( They are at fault and it is disgusting :thumbdown |
1 Attachment(s) Brandon, you and your wife have, unfortunately, learned a very hard lesson. I've been through the exact same heartbreak so I know how you feel. In December of '07, I lost a tiny 11 week old baby to hypoglycemia. I am a breeder and had raised her since birth. She had been doing very well but suddenly had an episode. I knew what to do and stayed up with her all night and had gotten her stable. She was actually wanting to run around so I put her back in her x-pen so she wouldn't burn off her energy. I took a 3 hour nap and woke to find her gone. I vowed then that this would never happen again. I have since had 2 pups with an episode and immediately intervened and kept an eagle eye on them for a few days until they were fully recovered. It is a vulnerable time for pups as they are weaned and may not eat well enough and/or play too much. In the case of Dani, who I lost, it is likely she crashed due to playing a little too much and not eating quite enough. Sometimes it can be hard to tell when they're in a litter situation and are eating from a common bowl. Dani was always a tiny girl, only 15 ounces, and seemed to be eating well but she had an episode anyway. I now strictly limit my pups playtime, especially the small ones and that seems to help a lot. I'm only telling you all this to let you know that this can happen and can get serious very quickly. It really wasn't fair for the store or breeder to let Buster go at such a vulnerable time and they did a poor job in giving you advice on his care. Also, I think the vet you called gave you a false sense of security in mentioning he may have liver shunt and to bring him in for tests. It totally went against what the vet who had seen Buster had to say. Probably, from your perspective, it explained a lot of his symptoms and allowed you to relax and wait to see the vet again. Also, you probably thought, "hey, he's a vet, I should listen to him" which I do understand. I know you are grieving and, as much as a stranger can, I'm grieving for Buster too. Don't beat yourself up too much over this. You were given entirely too much to deal with as a new puppy parent. As you go forward, remember Buster and give your next furbaby all the love and care you can as a tribute to him. That's what I do for Dani and her loss motivates me to do my very best. Stick around YorkieTalk; it's a wonderful place that will help you in so many ways. My thoughts are with you and your family and some very special thoughts for little Buster. P.S. Here's a photo of my little Dani, who is now a little angel. She is my inspiration and I think of her all the time. Bless you all....Jim |
Thanks for sharing Dani's story. we can all learn from it even if we are not breeders. |

I'm sorry this had to happen to him and to you and your family. |
Buster Brown's family - you were tremendous to this little guy. You did all you could for him, and while he may have not had health on his side, in the few days with you, he came to know love and affection. That is a huge gift. Thank you for all that you did do. I am so sorry for your loss and the grief you have over this sweet life. I am praying for you and for your children. I know it has got to be hard on your children also. As hard as this was to go through, I know that now people like you can be the greatest advocates about puppy mills and backyard breeders. How wonderful if you could adopt one of those poor yorkies that were rescued near Pleasant Hope. Here is a thread I started on Sunday in our News section about the rescued yorkies http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...3-yorkies.html - feel free to jump in and tell us what happens if you proceed with rescuing one of these pups We also have a club here on YT against puppy mills - in time you may find that helpful too. And, if you decide you want to find a yorkie through a breeder who strives to meet YTCA standards, you know that YT is definitely a place to get guidance on finding a breeder & perhaps the right puppy for your home You are in my prayers. May Buster Brown rest in peace :hands: |
i'm so sorry for your loss of little Buster...i truly believe you did all you could for him, and shame on all the people who breed and sell to these pet stores, this should not happen.:( |
I am so sorry for all you and Buster went through. At least Buster was with people who loved and cared for him through this difficult time. As hard as this is for you, you did the best you could and you loved him and took care of him when he needed it most. |
