| My baby has a collapsed trachea... Last night, Prince's breathing was very labored while he was sleeping. I thought he was snoring because we had spent about 2 hours at his favorite park. When we returned home from the park, I gave him a bath, and he was fine. My husband kept saying the Prince didn't seem right so we took him to the vet the first thing this morning. The vet took some z-rays, did some blood work, told us that Prince does have a collaped trachea and gave him a shot of steroids and two perscriptons...Temaril P and Aminophylline. The vet said that it is genetic and very common with small breed dogs. I've read about collapsed tracheas, and therfore used only a harness with his lease, and raised his water and food dishes. Prince didn''t get lverly tired at the park (I carried him quite a bit) and he didn't interact with other dogs. Please, I would like to hear from other members who have / are experiencing this. Thanks for listening. Prince's mom

| I am so sorry about your little Prince. Do not have any information, I can share, about this condition, but hope you can talk to someone that can help.

| I am so sorry Prince has collapsed trachea. It's all too common in Yorkies and other toy breed dogs. Here are a couple of links for you: Tracheal Collapse - VeterinaryPartner.com - a VIN company! Collapsed Trachea in Dogs |

| Ladymom, thank you so much for the links!!!! Prince is feeling a lot better today. The meds seem to help, a lot. The vet said to keep him calm for about 4-5 days, and to make sure he is eating and drinking a lot of water. It's ironic how you can be so careful, and it still happens. Thank you again. Prince's mom

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I had 2 yorkies with collapsed trachea and they lived full lives but I tried to limit their opportunities to get overexcited. If the degree is not severe and depending on where it is can determine the effect it will have on their lives. I hope the meds help and your baby can lead a good , long life.

| Thank you for your words of encouragement. Prince is doing a lot better today. He is sleeping a lot because of the medication, but he has eaten and is drinking a lot of water. I just can't believe this has happened. Prince's mom

| Prince has 3 more days to take his meds. He is doing a lot better, but he is still on the meds. We have been keeping him pretty calm with very limited exercise. (We take him out for a short walk every other day)
