| Did you know that Yorkies are 36 times to have a liver shunt than all other breeds combined? Any Yorkie with high liver enzymes and other symptoms of a shunt like loss of balance, lethargy, vomiting, etc. should have a bile acids test. Here are some links for you: PSVA and MVD Research Summary Portosystemic Shunts FAQ |

When she is well - you & your friend & your sweet yorkies will have to join us for one of our Central Iowa Yorkie Meetups -- we have so much fun. We don't have a date planned for one -- but yesterday's fantastic weather has me wanting to plan one!

| Tests are being done by the vet they have been seeing. If Lexie has to have surgery the vet said she would have to go the Vet Med at ISU. Kim and I would love to attend a yorki event, that sounds like fun! |

| if it is a liver shunt, she may want to look at how much experience ISU has had with these surgeries in yorkies. In the past ISU was one of the top schools in the country - but I know the vet school has slipped. (the stuff out this week in the media about the people working there also gives me pause.) Some vet schools actually specialize in this treatment. There has been a lot written on this here on YT. I believe Univ. of Tenn is supposed to be one of the best. You should PM RONLYNN about her search for good treatment. She traveled with Teddi across the country to get good treatment

| Prayers for Lexie I am glad they got it diagnosed so they can act on it. There is a lot of information her on YT & unfortunately too many members who have dealt with it, but I'm sure those same people would be willing to talk with Lexie's owners. Have they joined YT?? Just for the support it would be a good idea.I'm sure some other members can provide even more info. Praying for the dogtors and everyone caring for this sweet little life
