Input and prayers needed for Reggie Reggie was neutered last Tuesday. He was given Medicam(sp?) for pain to take for 5 days. Sunday night he took his last dose. Yesterday he vomited once that looked like foamy water and we all figured it was the pain meds he had been on because he had been eating less since he had his surgery. Plus he did not eat anything yesterday morning before he threw up. Also, we had our collie on that same med once for arthritis and after a week he started vomiting. So I called the vet yesterday and she said to withhold food for 2 hours then give him boiled chicken and rice. Did that and he at the food just fine. This morning gave him the same about 7:30 am and he ate fine. Came home from work at 2pm today and he had thrown up in his crate. I cleaned all that up, let him potty and then had to take Stacia for a doctor's appt. When I got back he threw up 2 times more. Each time it was chicken and rice that didn't look digested much to me. I called the vet again and she says to withhold food tonight then offer ice cubes late tonight or in the AM. The thing that has me worried is that she said if he ate chicken and rice at 7:30 am it should have been digested by now and not be coming back up looking like it did. Then she mentioned can happen when there is an obstruction and asked if he could have swallowed something. Well you all know how he likes to swallow everything but to my knowledge he hasn't swallowed anything. Now I am just freaked out. Has anyone else ever had their dog to throw up whole food hours after eating it from anything other than an obstruction? I wanna believe this is all still sensitivity from the Medicam.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | oh Angie, I am so sorry, I have no experience with neutering, but I would tell you that my Harry can't take medicam he vomits and gets letargic, so when Prada went for her spay I asked the vet for another pain killer he gave her rimadyl and she did great on it. so maybe he can't tolerate the medicam.. I will keep Regie in my prayers... hugs, Carmen in nj |

He threw up again about 20 mins ago but it was just like a little water that time, no food. So I assume that means his tummy is empty now. He is still wanting to play and all. It is just the weirdest thing but has me worried for sure.

Well, he just had another wretching and trying to vomit spell. Nothing but a little foamy water comes up now. I don't know what to do. This is so nerve wracking. Once he gets over the wretching spell he goes right back to playing with his chew toy and such like he is fine.

Not sure if I made it clear or not but he has not had any of the pain medicine since Sunday night. Do you all think it could still be the culprit in that it left his stomach so irritated?

I have two yorkies brother and sister. We didnt have trouble with neutering except he busted the stitches and had to have new ones. However they have both spitup food in foam that was pretty solid boiled chicken, white rice, baby carrots sometimes within a couple hours sometimes within five or six hours. Xander sometimes has digestive problems and you can hear his stomach making squirting noises and he will spit up. When this happens I give him 1/4 th of a pepcid ac. The reason for all this is to say maybe his stomach has a lot of acid from the meds, pepcid may help. Hope this helps.

Reggie last threw up at 10:30 last night. I just talked to the one of the vets at my regular group and she said since this has been going on 2 days now she wants to give him something for nausea and to settle his tummy. So off we go.
