limping My 7 month old baby girl, Mija, started limping a couple of days ago. She still runs and jumps around but all of a sudden she will stop and start limping. The weird thing is that it does not seem to bother her when she uses it or when I touch it. It does not seem to be broken...would it be possible that her claws are too long or the pads under her paws are irritated? She does not go outside so I know it is not because of the cold. Since she is very small she is always trying to jump onto things she cant reach and i'm worried she hurt herself that way...

Did you check to make sure that she doesn't have a sticker in between her toes. Check carefully around each toe. Sometimes their is so much hair that you might not be able to see it, but feel carefully. Yorkies sometimes develope a luxating Patella, and I had a dog with them. It usually happens to the back feet only, so if she holding a front leg up, you don't have to worry about that. My vet told me that it's more commom for the older Yorkies to have this problem than to not have it, and they don't reccomend doing surgery on them. But you should try to make sure your dog doesn't have the opportunity to jump off high things. It's hard to make them rest! Good luck.

Bella will be 7 months old 2/14. She started limping right after christmas, I noticed that she would limp one day an the next she seems fine this went on for awhile until i noticed that it was happening more often and it seemed it was in her hip. To make a long story short take her to the vet for an xray. My Bella was diagnosed with LCP Legg-calve-perthes, she is scheduled to have her fisrt surgery in March and the next one in April. Good Luck with your baby.

Unfortunatley - Luxating Patella is very common in this breed and can start to show in pups as well as adults. If limping is happening, then it is bothering and/or hurting. The Vet would need to evaluate it. LP is Graded 1 to 4 and IMO Grade 3 and 4 should have surgery to stop the luxation. LP doesn't fix itself

Thanks for the advice! I got her nails and her paw hair cut today...but she still continued to do it...its her back left leg so I called the breader I got her from...she told me it was probably that the hair under her paws had gotten too long and she was still doing it out of habit and i shouldnt worry.but she's a tough girl and I dont think she would do it if it wasn't bothering her. I am going to take her to the vet tomorrow anyways to get her checked out...i'm too worried about her and I don't like to see her this way.

Limping Check your little girls toenails....they may be too long, and one may be crossing over another making her limp. Also, check the bottom of her feet to make sure she doesn't have a mat irritating her. Good luch

I took her to the vet, but they didn' want to take x-rays yet. They said since she wasnt doing it too often and that she was not in pain, it is not necessary to run tests on her. They told me it was very common for small dogs and that unless she's in pain, since she is very tiny, they don't want to do anything about it yet.

YES - It is most likely Luxating Patella - The breeder's story about hair stuck is really kinda "funky" and I don't buy it | |

No i don't buy that story either, she kept rambling on and on about how her dogs are healthy and that they are checked. I think she just didnt want us to blame anything on her...anyway, the vet I went to practically didn't even check her, since she's so small some vets here don't know what to do with her...so i'm going to take her to the vet hospital where they are more experienced. I at least want to know if it is actually LP so I can do something about it sooner rather than later when it could be too late.
