| Hope'n some one can help me... My 9 wk old rex is paw'n at his left ear and makes lil noises while he does it,like he's irritated...I take my finger and rub the inside of his ear and it seems to help him. Also he wakes up at night like its itching or something. I've tried reading up on "ear irritations",and read about the hydrogen paroxide and viniger formulas to fight bacteria but cant seem to find out how to apply it to the ear and how long ur supposed to do it for. I'm pretty sure its not ear mites ,but not possitive...i also have an adult at age of 9 and she has never had that problem so i cant see how he would get them. any advice or tips to help would be appreciated... thx YT'rs RayMaxieRex |

| Usually ear issues like that would be a yeast infection, bacterial infection, mites or allergies. Allergies probably wouldn't be the case at this age. Your pup needs to see the vet.

| Has he been examined by a vet since you got him? Ear mites can be a problem in puppies from some breeders. Your vet needs to look way down in his ear canal to see what is causing his scratching. Vinegar solutions can be helpful after bathing, but it is only a preventive, not a cure for infection. |

| You guys are awesome here at YT, thx 4 such a fast reply... well... he was at the vet probably 3 wks ago.. had full exam.. nose to tail.. they found he had a tapeworm(got it while ingesting a preg.flea) when they did a stool exam..so they treated him for that.. they said he did not have any signs of other parasites in his stool on a follow-up exam.. I'm in total contact with breeder, she is aweome with knowlage and care of her yorkies, she's even giving my Rex his vaccines for no charge.ummm if it was anything like bacteria or mites or the other things you guys were describing would he be scratching often? he doesznt do it much m-be like 1 time out of 1 0r 2 dayz ..that i see., which i really keep a close eye on him...it seems more to bother him at night when he's winding down to go to sleep... again thx bunchez 4 your advice... | Gizmo is very prone to ear infections, and we started doing the vinegar wash after every bath. Has your pup had a bath recently? If water gets trapped in the ear, it can lead to an infection. The wash can burn if he's really irritated, so I would be careful if you're already seeing signs. I would really run him to the vet tomorrow. An ear infection can get bad fast.
