I have all 5 of my older dogs on Eukanuba naturally wild, and they are all doing fantastic on it. the little one is on purina pro plan puppy and is doing fine now that she is finally eating..if you something they like and it agrees with them, I would suggest keeping them on it. I had a golden retriever that was on kibbles and chunks all her life, and she lived to be 18

| My Pommie kept having way too soft of stools. Found out he couldn't tolerate corn, wheat, or eggs, Switched to a brand that didn't have those products but did have oats, barley, and rice. Still problems. Now I've switched to a food that doesn't have any grains. Has taken a month but finally I am seeing a difference. Even little treats that contain grains affect him. He gets dried chicken pieces, carrots, or sweet potatoes as treats. Please do remember, though, that switching from one food to another needs to be done very slowly or there might be an upset stomach or loose stools. Good luck! ~Joanne~

| My 6-month old puppy is currently recovering from GIARDIA. She had diarrhea with mucuos (and a little trace of blood?) She was given Metronidazole and probiotics and after 3 days her poop started to harden. Her Rx diet is Royal Canin intestinal. I will be transitioning her to Natural Balance Potato and Duck soon. Still on the meds, she is now very active and eats alot. She just lost her appetite the 2 days she was confined at the clinic.

Cottage Cheese also helps to slow down running stools. The dogs love it , it is also a good source of Calcium for them. I suggest to my puppy byers to feed cottage cheese if the stools get loose on them. I like to mix it into their dry food. Always feed a food that the first ingredience is a meat of some sort. Dogs weren't made to eat grain. Mine do go out into the barn and eat some horse food. It may be the sweetener on it. I like Black Gold puppy food. Also maximun natrician lamb and rice puppy.

Since I put the boys on venison & sweet potato, Keegan has stopped chewing his paws & he was at the constantly. I believe it was the corn, or other fillers, that were in the other food I was feeding them. Got that tip from YT..THANKS y'all.

Hope your little baby starts feeling better .. Remember you changing his food will loosen the poo up to.. I give my babies Eagle Pack Chicken and Rice.. Albon is great and see if the doc will give you some of that .. did he test for everythin g Parvo. Geaurdia sorry spelling... that is what it sounds like. make sure you give him some karo syrup to keep his sugar level up.. and you might need to take him to another vet... Good luck

My yorkies are sensitive to changing foods and too many snacks. I give them BilJak dog food. They haven't had a problem with their bowels.

Just watch your switching around on the different food can cause an upset stomach. I think that food is a personal preference to a dog. Different ones work with different dogs. They all aren't the same. Find one that works for your dog. Just don't use the cheapy ones.

Well it has now been 3 weeks with the diarehha. We started to introduce the innova into his diet and immediatley he had muckas poops, all over the place, a little here a little there. Any other suggestions, as soon as we take him off the pill, he starts right back to the poops, even with the bland diet. I am thinking of taking him to a different vet to get a second opinion. I fell bad if he is in discomfort or anything, and also it is making quite a mess in the house, and i was up 4 times with him throughout the night..... does this ever go away!

Search Results for diarrhea above is some info to read on diarhea that is very informative. Are you giving pumpkin and probiotics as those are very important for dogs with diarhea and they work well. Pumpkin is a natural fiber and probiotics are good bacteria that will kill the bad bacteria in the digestive tract - if giving antibiotics and i think What is Metronidazole: Metronidazole is an antibiotic used to treat Giardia infections, inflammatory bowel disease and infections in the mouth. Metronidazole may be used for other purposes than those listed in this guide. since metronidazole is an antibiotic i would give the probiotic 2 hrs after as the met will kill all bacteria good and bad and then the probiotic will add the good back in -- I use dds plus from whole foods -- i give my dee dee 2 capsules daily and she is 6lbs so you may want to do just one a day for now and if persists do two in about 3-5 days Giardia is very hard to detect so you may have to test several times for that and they can get that from backyard and standing water - my neighbors dog had it and my friends as well and it is highly contagious to other dogs - did the vet rule this out? My dog has ibd and cannot tolerate potato but he vomits so i think it is small intestines and i think when it is diarhea it is large but this sounds like giardia to me

I think that is alot of diarhea for a bacteria infection but the probiotics will help if it is and so will pumpkin in adding fiber but if they are not working then giardia is alot of diarhea and my friend had 6 dogs they all got it and she had to have tested 3 or 4 times before it came up positive with 6 dogs and she got it from a lady she worked for her dog had giardia and tracked it home on her shoes
