Ive only just seen this thread as ive not been on here lately, But can I suggest you feed vinny on a low protein diet. As it will help the liver function somewhat by not making it work harder trying to process the protein.

Maybe an idea to give him dog veggetarian diet. My three dogs thrive on the stuff.

Also the place you got him from should take some responsibility and why not threaten to publicise the state he was in to newspapers unless they cough up his vet bills?.

Or just a suggestion how about each member here donating towards his vets bill for surgery?.

Any updates on little Vinny??

WHy is this man still in busness.. he is a poor breeder and should be stopped... would you send me a pic of the little guy i could not open the other one..

I'm sorry if you've already posted this and I missed it or forgot, but how old is Vinny?

He is such a darling little guy  Bless his little heart :( I'm so glad that he's going to get the care he needs.

TresCutePiggies 10-08-2008 05:13 AM

I'm so sorry to hear you were clearly taken advantage of. It makes me ill to think people have such little regard for a life, especially a so-called breeder.

All that being said, I think it is wonderful you have taken sweet little Vinny into your home and are willing to do what it takes to get him healthy. I just saw his pictures, and he is just so precious. He has already stolen my heart.

I don't know much about liver shunts, but you are both in my thoughts.

Just a suggestion regarding the payment for his surgery...I don't know if this is something you would be comfortable doing or if credit card would be an accepted payment method where you have the surgery done, but several credit cards can be opened with 0% APR on new purchases for a year. I used two different AmEx cards to pay for my bullmastiff's chemo over a two year period, and never paid a penny of interest. Let me just say it was enough to buy a nice NEW car when it was all said and done. It wasn't a fun time, but it is doable. I was just out of college and in my first job, and I really had no other way to get the money. For what it's worth, if I had to do it all over again, I definitely would.

Please keep us updated on little Vinny.

He looks shagy but believe me this is after we cut matts out of his hair and towel bathed him.

Poor little guy you can tell in his eyes he is not feeling well. Hopefully he will be so much better after his surgery.

It's probably the same puppy. Here is the link, his on the left side about hald way down:
Yorkie Pup .com Yorkie Rescue page.

Maybe the wrestler promised to put a few moves on his if he didn't take the pup back. Too bad he didn't follow through ;)

you poor thing . I dont understand she wants to keep this baby but all of you all keep saying turn it over to a rescue and they will get him the surgery that he needs . why dont one of these rescue help this little guy and let her keep him wouldnt that be the thing to do she has already proven to love the little guy or she would of never taken it in the first place.. come on guys let the rescue help her and let her keep it... with the way things are in this world a little kindness would help... good luck sweet baby:confused:

I am wondering if you even know what a rescue does? Have you ever donated to a rescue to help pups in need? Do you volunteer to make a difference? I do and have also taken in 3 rescues of my own and plan to open my home to take in fosters as well. All of this is done on my dime and with my time. There are several links on this forum to help a rescue with your vote, did you take the time to do this? Where do you think they get their money from~they are NOT FOR PROFIT organizations~they get their money from donations from caring people that want to make a difference. There is no money to fix the dogs we have in our care, let alone take on the care of sick pups like little Vinnie. As for suggestion that he be turned over to a rescue, originally she had said she did not know how to pay for the surgery. It was being offered as an option to someone looking for help and not knowing how she was going to pay for a surgery that she was quoted $4,000 . Until you have walked in a rescue workers shoes you need not make statements like you just did.

Vinny =D

We are getting his blood work done in four days. :)
I think we might be able to get our money back as well.
but no matter what he is not going back.
He has already gained a little weight and can kinda stumble walk for almost half a foot! Before falling over himself.. however he walks very mangled, I don't know how a dog could walk the way he does with his paws intangled...

I am felling very hopeful about Vinico... he has tons of hope! He just knows he is going to make it =)

I'm so glad for you both. And him gaining weight it so wonderful. Even though it's just a little just know that its you that has brought him so far with your friendship, compassion and love for him.

We are so glad to hear that. There are so many people on here who continue to pray for you and Vinico. May God Bless You and your little one.

I hope you can get your money back as well so that you can use it for his care. It sounds like things are moving in a positve direction for both you and Vinnie!

LunasMomma 10-08-2008 11:11 AM

Prayers continuing for little Vinnie:hands:  I'm so glad that he's with you, you obviously care very much for the little dude:) I'm really sorry that the "person" that you got him from outright lied to you about his condition. I hope and pray that you'll be able to get him the care that he needs.

I am so happy to hear this encouraging update! Perhaps good nourishment will go a long way towards Vinny's improvement and eventual recovery. I am praying every day for this baby ... I can't get him off my mind. God bless you and your husband!

luv4yorkies 10-08-2008 04:00 PM

I am sorry to hear about Vinny I knew when I read your first post there was something not right as I stated in that thread I knew Jeff was the breeder and knew people had problems with him before. It just wouldn't make since for someone to spend 7500 on the god and lock them in a car just to return them the story doesn't add up. I knew it. you and your furbaby are in my prayers.

Kaity 10-08-2008 07:17 PM

Thank you everybody who has Vinny in their prayers It means a lot to him and I

as ask earlier Vinny is one year old.

I know i should never have trusted Jeff Dane I am happy in a way i did though. I just love vinny so much.

SLewis024 10-08-2008 07:54 PM

every time i read updates on little vinny i get tears in my eyes. it breaks my heart that such a precious puppy has to go through this, and that you have to watch him and figure out a way to keep him going. youre doing an amazing job!!! keep your head high!!!! you make him very happy, thats why hes doing so well! he loves his mama :)

newyorkie34 10-08-2008 09:07 PM

this is really nice of you to recommend this dr.

Kaity 10-09-2008 07:58 AM

I woke up this morning and Vinny had a runny nose and keeps kinda weezing almost acting like he is blowing his nose... no cough or sneezing. at least not yet! Do you think this could be related... maybe Kennel Cough? Something eles?

TLC 10-09-2008 08:04 AM

Somtimes the little ones can get upper respitory infections and you have to be careful about it turing into pnemonia ~ plus he was in the 'baggage' area of the plane and he could have gotten a 'chill' from that and now that is turning into an upper resp. infection, etc...

I wouldn't mess around being that he is so small and fragile, they can go down quickly...:(

Kaity 10-09-2008 06:06 PM

Vet.

So this time I took him to my moms normal vet. I had to get him checked out within 48 hours before and it was sunday so we went to petsmart. My vet said that his soft spot on his head never healed(so you cen feel it) That he still has his some of his baby teeth and they are very yellow and that only one of his testicals his have droped. He also agreed he though he had a liver shunt he also said his soft spot in his head could be slowing his circulation and that could be part of his problem too. he said if he get surgery he still might act a lttle special

He has also gained 4 ounces!!!! from 1.2 now 1.6 I think he might be health enough for blood work now! He now can growl at our cats and try to play with my moms poodle when I bring him over there. well while vinny is laying down lol. And his Cold is nothing... the vet said as long as he eats he will be okay in a few days :) I am happy he is okay... as far as his weezing
