OMGosh, I can't believe someone would sell a puppy like this knowing how sick it was. I do hope you can get this puppy the help it needs. Bless your heart :( You are in our prayers. Tammy, Abby and Daisy |
This is just not right! I just went and looked at the rescue page on the web site that TLC listed and really looked at the details. These people make me so angry. Uuuuggghhhh!!! Not only do most of those poor babies have health problems, it clearly states that 5 out of the 8 little ones WERE THEIR OWN PERSONAL PETS. And I even think that Cupcake and Zoey were theirs also. Most of them have health problems noted and all of them needed attention. After looking at these pictures closely, they all look very unhealthy, none of their eyes are bright and alert, and I firmly believe in this case that all their dogs “needing more attention” is a sure sign of neglect and their willingness to get rid of so many "family" pets is no coincidence. I can't even think about how they treat the ones that aren't "family pets." This is totally disgusting what they have done to these animals and also people like Kaity. It makes me even angrier that people like Kaity go out and adopt a rescue pet and these people take advantage of their kindness. It’s just so unethical and immoral. Boo – 1 yr old; his personal pet; problems - none noted (okay - they just didn’t “note” it) Needs more attention Ester – her son’s pet, problems - none noted (same as above) needs more attention Hot Pocket – 4 yrs old; wife’s personal pet; teeth missing and hair rubs his eyes (couldn’t they have clipped it?) needs more attention Kylie – 4 yrs old; his yorkie; missing teeth; needs more attention Molly – 3 yrs old; his yorkie; missing teeth; needs more attention On Cupcake (10 yrs old)cataract and missing teeth & Zoey (6 yrs old) missing teeth. It doesn’t state where they came from, but they sure posted a lot of things she loves to do that only an owner would know. Major Mojoe – the only little one on here that they actually states the puppy came from someone else who harmed it. Of course, this is only my opinion, but this breeder really needs to be put out of business. I'm glad the the little one is out of there and is being looked after and I'll pray for them daily. Has anyone heard anything about these breeders? Has anyone heard back from Kaity? |
I made an error. His name is Jeff not (Jane). If you want to read more about Mr. Dane - do a search, but be prepared to be beyond sick :thumbdown |
Thank you. sorry I have not logged on since I posted this. I was a little upset at the time... still am. I am going allow the vet to run some tests on him to make certian it is a Liver Shunt. But sadly thats all I can afford currently. I will need to start saving up and raising some money to get his surgery done. I mean they are pretty certian it is the problem. He has very greasy fur, and I clean it and it quickly becomes greasy. I guess that is liver related? I have also read other liver shunt stories... I am pretty certian but the tests will tell for sure. I will start reading all your posts now. I would love to be recomended to any vets in WA state. I will consider tarveling but I don't want to put such a small baby through such a long trip. Thank you for all your support and blessings. |

Best Wishes... As others have stated the BEST place for L.S. Surgery is with Dr. Tobias at U of Tenn - I think someone posted that the LS and other tests and spay cost $1300 ~ Which is pretty inexpensive, you could look for airfair for a non busy time and maybe get a great deal and I am sure a hotel in the area for a handful of days won't be so bad....You could probably do the whole trip and surgery for about $2000 and You would be having it done by the BEST  |
Second reply. Yes. When we saw the posting we though he would need a little help. and just special attention. He obviously needs a lot more. No way he is going back there. He is my baby forever. =) He is sleeping on my lap right now. He is the sweetest thing ever. We are going to take him to get his blood work done soon and look for vets that specialize in Liver shunts in the area. We just need to work on the money situation but we are planning on getting the best care and everything for this little guy. No what it takes. He really has a way of touching your heart :aimeeyork |

Reply from breeder Are you nuts? I love that little guy more than you will ever know. He is on the rescue page for a reason. He can't do much of anything. Once he gets over the shock of the move from here to there, he will get back on his feet, but he walks about 20 feet and falls over. I can't believe you would think I'd want you to have him just to get rid of him. I want him back here ASAP. You are a bad person. I had several other people who wanted him, would of cared for him and knew he was special. He has no liver problems, he eats peanut butter all the time here, if he had a liver problem that would of killed him long ago. Send him back here and I will refund your money. Its says "Rescue-AS IS" for reason. Send him back here tomorrow on this flight; AMERICAN AIRLINES 1788 SEA Seattle Oct 07, 2008 06:00 AM DFW Dallas/ Fort Worth Oct 07, 2008 11:45 AM Jeff Dane ---- is he serious? what a lie. :( This made my cry. |

Also, what food are you feeding him? And what treats? You should know that his protein intake needs to be low, but quality protein. Bad protein (which causes a lot of ammonia) comes from Meat and Organ Meat. That also means that most treats and chew stick are no good either. Good low and quality protein is best from Cottage Cheese and Eggs, but this needs to be minimal and the rest filled with veggies and good healthy carbs. |

I am so sorry that you have been taken advantage of from this person that claims to be a breeder, when they are nothing more than a puppymill. I think it is disgusting that they have a "Rescue - AS IS" page - that makes me want to vomit. Those poor pups are the results of puppymill breeding :thumbdown and they still want to squeeze every last ounce of money out of them - makes me so sick with disgust  |
Mr. Dane has been discussed here many, many times. If you do a search you'll read over and over how his place has lied to and taken advantage of many people, and the real tragedy is the poor pups that have to suffer as a result of the poor quality and puppymill like breeding practices :( |
i am so sorry that you are going thru this...everyone's advice are good ones...please keep us updated! |
The pictures on the rescue page made me CRY! :( I can't believe it. And everything they say about them seems to be a pack of lies IMO! Poor babies - heartbreaking. |
ok...so im just asking here.... but if this "person" is such a bad breeder....and im sure he is...then why havent they shut him down...has he been reported to the BBB?...to the AKC?....and even to the "local" animal society in his area?....I mean if he has a "proven" bad reputation why dont the true "rescues" do something about him.....this stuff makes me sick....and i just dont understand how he is still allowed to breed and sell.... Again I am just asking....I dont understand how most "rescues" work...but i would think something could be done..... to the OP.....God Bless you and your family for taking this special little guy in...and i send you all the good wishes for a long relationship with this special little guy....what is his name....so we can all send puppy prayers up for him...and keep every sheet of document that has anything to do with this little man...it might actually come in handy....it might not get you any money back but in the end it might help stop stuff like what this special little man is going through |

They are using a page from their many websites (as they have many www....com sites) and they title it Rescues - another Marketing Ploy to Suck people into thinking they are indeed "Rescuing" - so sick! So sorry to say, but Puppymills are very hard to shut down  What is also so bad about this particular site is that they breed for smaller than small pups and sell them for crazy amounts of money  |

Jeff Dane does not run a rescue. He has a "Rescue" page on his website of pups and adults he has no more use for.....he states he is selling them "as is" He has been reported many, many times and had actions taken against him. He just keeps popping under different website names. If you do a search on JEFF DANE, you will find scores of pages that tell about the vile man and his unethical treatment of animals!!! |

I would love for you to tell me how to change the laws that do not protect animals. People have tried and tried and continue to do so. There is a person who is close to my area that we suspect is hoarding animals; and I cannot even begin to tell you how many people have reported him, only to be told that as long as he provides bare minimum of shelter and water...blah blah blah, they cannot do anything. They want us to get proof. The guy has a so called sanctuary that no one is allowed to visit and has over 400 animals on his property with only two people living there and supposedly 6 employees. Only those few people are caring for these animals...do you think that is even remotely possible to do? I dont...but I can tell you I myself have reported him to everyone imaginable to no avail. So...now I ask you....how about *you*, instead of blasting what you call "rescues" ( Love the way you put parenthesis on it ), do something yourself to try and stop these horrors! Then, come on back, and let me know how successful you were! In the state of TX as in many other states, dogs are considered "property". Linda |
Linda, i am so sorry you took my post the wrong way...i in no way meant anything about you or people like you who try to give these little darlings a better life....i simply meant the unscrupulous (sp) person...who evidental has no morals....these are God's precious creatures and deserve to have a great and safe life....i again am so so sorry that you took my post as a hit on you or other rescue missions....i was asking if maybe a rescue...and what i meant was a rescue that true does help animals could maybe get something done against this person...im sure rescue missions would have a better chance than "ME"....and if i truely thought that i could do something against him...it would have been in the works before i even posted the first post on this thread...again im so so sorry you took what i said the wrong way....i for one am greatful that there are those like you out there that are truely trying to help these little guys.... Oh by the way, I love your signature! |
The University of Tennessee is great. I took my Gizmo there to be treated for a liver shunt. I live about 30-45 minutes from there. If you could make arrangements to come here for him to be examined, I can get you hotel rooms here in Morristown free of charge. PM me if this is something that you would be interested in doing. I will help you all I can. Good luck with this baby. |

I just came back to check what happened with the little guy. I guess I got my answer as to why things just didn't add up yesterday. SassyAnn what a wonderful thing to offer to the OP! :bravo: It is breeders like Jeff Danes that keep rescues in business. It's so very sad. ;( |
Thank you Cindi, for your clarification. As for people stopping these things...anyone can speak up. Honestly, I think the best thing for people to do now is to put pressure on the legislators. That is where everything starts. These people who run these awful places know the laws very well and manage to get around them to abuse and neglect animals. It is just horrifying that people do these things. I cannot fathom the type of mind it takes to look at these precious faces and do what they do to make money off of them. |
Liver Shunt to the original poster, you may want to check out this site, it looks like they might offer funds to help w/ liver shunt surgery. All the best, Tammy |
