| Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | We are normally so careful about not leaving Beatrice on the sofa when we are not there, however we are both guilty of getting up and running to the kitchen or up or downstairs for a minute while she is lying peacefully on the sofa.Saturday morning wile I was at work Denis, my partner was on the sofa with her.He got up and ran downstairs to bring something back up.When he got up to the living room she was standing up wagging her tail and whimpering with excitement at seeing him.He told her to stay , but it was too late, she jumped from One sofa to the other and then jumped off to land on the floor.I guess when she landed she was screeching and wailing, poor thing and poor Denis. He felt so bad , he wasn't sure if she broke anything or not so he put her in her xpen and called the vet. The vet asked him to get her to walk...I guess when she tried it was on 3 legs and she was sreeching in pain.Denis was so upset and the vets told him to get her in asap.He got a cab and got right over there. They x-rayed her and discovered she had fractured the 2 bones just above her right paw, they are clean breaks....pretty serious and that she would need surgery. They bandaged her and administerd pain medication. We went to visit her later that day and she seemed comfortable and very happy to see us.They kept her for the night and called us in the morning to let us know that we could take her home until Tuesday when we will have to bring her back for the surgery. So she is home with us now, quite happily I must add.The only problem is getting her to take her pain killers, they are in a capsule and last night we put the whole capsule in peanut butter, but she seemed to have a hard time getting it down. This morning we decided to open it and mix it with the P.B. but I I guess it tastes horrible because she wouldn't eat it.I tried mixing it with all kinds of things that she likes, but I think it taints whatever you mix it with.So we opened a capsule and mixed it with a little water and gave it to her with a siringe...boy, she didn't like that, but at least she took it. The vets tell us that she will recover completely, and that she'll be just as active as she was before. I guess she has youth on her side. So, a major lesson learned..........We'll never leave her unattended on the sofa or the bed.Even for a few seconds, we'll put her on the floor or in her pen. | Oh, forgot to say----When she is all better, maybe you could get some pet stairs for the sofa so that she can go up and down when she wants?

| Donating YT 1000 Club Member | This is scary, my 4 yr old Yorkie jumps all the time. Our bed is high and she jumps off it, we have stairs she won't use. I will have to come up with stairs she will use or keep her on the floor all the time when we are up and about. I've left her on the bed with my hubby and she still jumps. I hope your pup is good as new soon! This is a real eye opener for me, I worried more about how her legs would be when she got older not breaking anything now.

| Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I know, my last yorkie, Tina used to jump up and down off the sofa and the bed all the time .At least until she was too old to do so, she was only 3 3/4 lbs but had longer legs than Beatrice and was alot more agile. Beatrice is a bit of a clutz. We'll definitely be much more careful now ! It makes us realize just how much we love her, and how much we'd miss her if anything was ever to happen to her |

| Oh that poor baby! I am glad that she is going to make a full recovery. You two will just have to spoil her just that much more! It scares me because Maggie was escaping the gated family room by jumping of the back of the sofa! Thank goodness a member told me to try aluminum foil--it's been working! Granted, my living room looks like a spaceship but at least I don't have to worry about a hurt puppy.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() :![]()

| Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I want to say "thank-you" to everyone for all the best wishes and concern. This YT is such a great place to make friends and share a common interest, our beloved yorkies !You all understand what it's like when something scary happens to our babies. It's scary how much we feel for these little precious furballs,we were sick to our stomaches because we weren't sure how bad the prognosis was.We can't imagine our lives without her now. I will keep you all posted through this thread as to how the surgery goes, even though they expect a full recovery, there is always a risk in any surgery. The nice thing is that they let us take her home, and I know that she's more calm here, she's sleeping and eating better and she has absolutely no stress here at all. Thanks again friends ! |

| She had her dog Kakashi home for 30 minutes and he ran into the kitchen table and fractured 2 bones in his front leg. She felt awful because she had just got him from the breeder!! Her vet set it the next day and referred her to a surgeon. The surgeon did his surgery 2 days after he broke it,she neutered him and pulled baby teeth also. Her total was 2700.00 plus 800.00 for the puppy all in the span of 2 days!! Kakashi did great....He was only 4 pounds and was running and bouncing around like nothing had happened. She takes him back in Dec. for an x-ray to see how the leg is healing. The plate was the smallest the vet had ever used on a dog, and it was a tad too big, but, she had to use it. Give Beatrice hugs and wishing her a speedy recovery after surgery....Blessings, Baron's Mom
