Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | ![]() What a nightmare. I'm so glad it worked out the way it did. And why is it that they ALWAYS get better the moment you walk into the vet's office? Maybe we should all have a room in our house that looks like a vet's office! ![]() I just hate when things happen that you can't diagnose. You can't treat him for everything. Did the symptoms go away because of the Nutrical or was that incidental? Ugh. I wouldn't know what to do. Here's another one to throw on the table. Spider bite? Sending positive thoughts and hoping those nasty symptoms never return.

![]() I too thought about bite, but there was no stiff limbs, no drooling, swelling, lethargy - I mean, he was alert - he just could not get air. It's still possible, but it just wasn't quite all there for the bite. Plus, it cleared right up. I'm now pretty sure he inhaled a down fluff from our comforter - and it almost totally blocked his airway. Scary.

| ![]() Oh my gosh! That's terrible! I'm a deep sleeper and hearing these stories always scares me. If it ever happened to me I'm afraid I'd sleep right through it! Thank goodness it all worked out tho! Make sure you let us know if you ever find a definite answer to what caused it! At least we'll know how to prevent this, or help the situation if it happens to anyone else!

| ![]() How scarey! I'm so glad your little guy is ok. You acted quickly - good for you. Hopefully it won't happen again. My first thought was a possible bug bite that swelled up temporarily then went back down before you got to the vet.

| ![]() Oh my gosh, Ann!! I'm just now reading this. That must have been completely terrifying...Poor Marcel! I'm glad you acted quick. Keep an eye on him tonight. Usually asthma issues arise during the night, at least in my experience.

| ![]() Hi Ann...I just saw this and I'm so thankful you still have your little sweetheart with you, alive and kicking! *HUG* Kisses from Maddie and LIbby to Marcel! This is so similar to what happened to my sister's dog not to long ago She called me at 1:00 AM telling me she thought Scarlett was dying. This was shortly after her son died, and I was so scared she was going to lose Scarlett too. I went right up to her place and we called the vet. She was having much the same symptoms as Marcel...and at one time went totally limp and we thought she was gone! Well, the vet could find nothing...it's a mystery. It started when they were in bed and they always play with Scarlett before going to sleep. She was fine one minute and the next, couldn't breath and made very different sounds. They seemed to be coming more from her throat. She hasn't had an episode since then and I'd say that was 6 weeks ago or so. While reading your thread, I just kept thinking..."this is exactly what happened to Scarlett." I think I saw a thread on YT a month or two ago where someone's dog did much the same thing. If you find out any more on this, let me know. And why these late night episodes? It's all so strange! I'm so glad your darling and precious baby is doing okay. So sorry you had such an awful scare!
