| Brownee and I need your prayers! So it turns out my poor baby has Hydrocephalus and inflammation of the brain. I just got of the phone with the Neurologist and he said we can try prednisone for two weeks and if he doesn't get better than they will have to do a spinal tap and possibly chemotherapy. Even with that he said he might live for maybe another year. He is only 3 years old! I am so sad and upset, has anyone else had experience with this condition? Please I am looking for all the help I can get! You can see my previous post at : http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...poor-baby.html |

| I'm so sorry to hear that. I just can't imagine how that feels to hear a diagnosis like that. Sending hugs to you & Brownee. I don't know anything about what Brownee has. I hope someone on here can be of help to you.

| I am so very sorry to hear about your little one. I will share LacieBug's story with you and perhaps give you some encouragement. She was 4 when she started walking funny.... our vet thought it was a disk unjury, so he referred us to the UGA Veternary Hospital. Within about 3 minutes the University Vet said he thought it was neurological and suggested a CAT scan. The scan showed leisions in the lining of her brain -- I don't know the name of the condition, only that it was a type of encephalitis so rare that it is almost never discovered in a living dog, only found in a necropsy. The university vets had only seen a couple of cases and my local vet had never seen a live dog with the condition. I was sent home with 2 weeks of meds and told to go to my regular vet for follow up (the university vet did not expect her to live to take all of her 2 weeks worth of meds). She was on prednisone for the swelling and periodically other meds for symptoms. Each time I took her to visit Doc I would ask him, "Doc, is it time?" and every time Dog would give me the same answer, "Cindy, listen with your heart and she will tell you." She lived for over three years -- what a brave, loving soul my little Laciebug was. I will keep you and your little Brownee in my thoughts and prayers :hands; |

| Update So here is the final diagnosis from the radiologist: Definitely abnormal contrast enhancing lesion in the right cerebrum. This intra-axial disease may be a necrotizing encephalitis. Lack of mass effect tends to discredit the possibility of neoplasia. I was referred back to my regular vet to start the pred treatment. Brownee is on the 1 MG 2 xs a day for four days. Then we start tapering down the dosage. The neurologist did say that we can explore chemo as well. I have been doing a lot of research about this and found some information about Dr. Sisson. It seems like the neurologist and radiologist are so negative about his recovery. I mean I don't want them to give me false hope but I need to stay positive on Brownee's behalf. He is a fighter and I am going to do everything I can for him! Anyone with experience with this please contact me, it would be much appreciated! |
