| My furkids Donating Member | [QUOTE=qboe2001;2236672]how do the titers work? Is it just a blood test that is performed or is it more invasive? [/QUOTA titer is just a regular blood test. The blood has to be sent out and is tested to see if they are still immune. It costs a little bit more than the shot but, to me, it's worth it. If I had my way they wouldn't get rabies every 3 yrs either. Unfortunately, they don't have a titer for rabies............yet.

| thanks Brenda, I've a vet visit scheduled on the 19th and i'll ask my vet if he can do the titers at that time. I really don't want my baby to be subjected to a bunch on unnecessary shots if there is a way to avoid it. |

| Goodafternoon ladies, I must agree with Dejavu. After much reading and research, corona virus and lepto seem to be much more acutely dangerous for toy breed puppies. It does not appear to be even close to lethal in adults. They gave one of my adult yorkies a dose with lepto before I caught them. I use interceptor, it says on the box, "takes care of hookworms and roundworms". My opinion is "that it is unnecessary to worm your dogs again after giving interceptor". You're repeating the worming. My vet also said there was lepto in the area. I refused to allow him to innoculate the puppies with what he had. I waited until he ordered the shots without. I had to go back a week later. He evidently did his research and realized what I told him was correct. Quote:
