| Otie puncture the web of his paw on the fence! Otis runs up and down the fence line with his "girlfriend", the neighbor dog, Abbey. This evening they did what they normally do, but he started crying out. Terrified me. I ran to him and couldn't free his little paw from the fence. The bottom had punctured the web between his toes. After what felt like 5 minutes, probably only 30-45 seconds, i finally got it free. It show'd bloody, but didn't run blood. He's acting fine, but limpin a little and holds it up sometimes. He does put weight on it occasionally. I'm so paranoid. I ran cold water over it, as it was a little muddy in the place where it happened. And after he went outside for the final time tonite I ran cold water over it again. He licks it for awhile and then is okay. So hard not to panic over my baby. I know he's okay, I just have to watch and make sure he doesn't get infected. It was so scary. Any tips on what I should do to make sure it doesn't get infected. Don't want to put soap or antibacterial ointment on it cause he licks it. He ate, and is acting okay, just keeps it up and licking. Only putting it down every now and then.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Maybe wash it out real good and put a little neosporin ointment on it to prevent infection. Hope he feels better soon.

| Patti, do you think it's okay to put neosporin on it if he's licking it? Not sure about that?

| He's doing well, thanks!! Gonna have sore some sore piggies for a couple days. No bleeding and I wash it with cold water every time he goes outside. I hate to put soap or neosporin on it cause he licks it. He's staying in the bedroom but thats not unusual as we are dogsitting a boston terrier and she just arrived tonite. He usually spends a lot of time in the bedroom for the first couple days we dogsit! He's putting weight on it, and holds it up sometimes. The only thing I worry about it infection.

| Poor baby. Did you try pouring some peroxide on it to clean it out a little?

| You might try putting a baby bootie on his paw and taping it in place with adhesive tape.

| Otie is already much better today. I did use some peroxide on it. He's not lifiting it at all today and just a little bit limpy. Not licking as much either. Thank God! I just read that post where the baby girl got her whole leg ripped up by the dogs on the other side and feel very fortunate he was just a little puncture from the fence bottom. I hate to hear of anyone's babies suffering.

| Oh Paula, I missed this whole thread. Please give sweet little Otie a hug. It sounds like you are being a good nurse/mommy. |
