Maya is really sick ..... I have been on here all morning (well night for you guys) trying to find some Posts about diarrhea and I can't really find anything I need ..... :confused: I called the Vet this morning cause Maya is not doing to well and we have an App. this late afternoon .... I had to give her 3 baths till now ..... and wash her Blankets .... she can't help it ... the poor thing ..... I am such an Idiot ...I cleaned up the poop and the Vet said I need to bring in a Sample ... I hope she will go before then so I can bring it in ..... It stared yesterday by her not wanting to do a lot ... and her poop was loose ..... I gave her a little cottage cheese and she drank some water .... but I don't think it is enough ...... :( I have another 4 hr until her App. ..... :( |
canned pumkin is good for loose stools, and you can give her some keopectate or pepto bismo. Hope she feels better soon. Keep her hydrated |

My vet always suggests electrolyte powders to help prevent dehydration. The type you might buy from the chemist for children. Just make up as directed and try using a medicine syringe to get some down her. I hope she will be feeling better soon. Keep us posted |

She pooped all over herself again ..... I called the Vet to see if we can come now ... but I can't until later .... I have a Sample at least and I think it looks like slimy blood in it ..... :( Maya is hiding in her Safe spot (her Crate) right now .... she had been in it all morning until she pooped all over her blanket ..... she has no control over it ... I feel so bad ... :( Is there a Virus going around or something like that ???? |
Hope everything will be okay soon. Please let us know how she's doing when you get a chance. Could she have eaten something that made her sick? I don't know if you have Pediatlyte there, but you may want to ask your vet about that or something similar. It probably isn't called Pedialyte in Germany. I always keep that around the house in case of sick dogs or cats so they don't dehydrate. It's similar to the electrolyte powders Pip was saying you can get from the chemist, but it comes in liquid form and you can get a lot of different flavours. (I use the unflavoured one unless the animal refuses to drink it. In that case, cherry flavour seems to work best for me.) |

This is not good.. keep her drinking till you can get her to vet.. Keopetate or Pepto too.. I like Mylanta too for tummy problems... kidney failure can happen fast if she dehydrates... Let us all know..:animal36 |

Poor little girl! Please let us know how it goes at the vets. And yes, pumpkin will help with diarrhea. Just be sure it's pure pumpkin, not the pumpkin pie filling. |

Canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling) has worked very well for us for diarrhea. Good luck at the vet. I know it's seems like forever until you can go. Poor baby! I'll be watching for updates. |

Awww Jenny, I feel so bad for sweet little Maya :( I have no clue what the problem could be, but at least you are doing the right thing and getting her seen by a vet right away :) You must have JUST left too since you said that you were leaving in 4 hours from your last post - so hopefully we will have an update soon :hands: I will be thinking good thoughts and will keep you both in my prayers. Oh sweetie I'm so sorry. I know that a friend's dog did the same thing with some blood in the stool and it was the food they were feeding her. I hope it's something simple to fix hon you and maya are in my thoughts. |

My Kayla had a mucus bloody stool today but I know it is because we are trying to change the food they get. I am mixing Instinct and Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul in with there regular food to get them adjusted to it. She had a sensitive stomach and this happened once before with different food. Have you changed food or added something different to the diet? |
Update Hey ... so we got back from the Vet ..... She has a really bad Virus and it will take a few days to take care of it. We have to be back tomorrow with more Samples and if she is not doing better she has to stay until she is .... :( ... with IV and stuff .... For now I have to give her Rice and 'Hill Prescription Food' from the Vet .... Cottage cheese and Yoghurt .... I have some meds she has to take and I have to keep her hydrated ..... she is running a fever ..... :eek: They thought she had Worms ... but she tested neg. ... thank God .... I am not going to be on here until tomorrow .... I will lay down with her and the heating Bottle and try to make her feel better ..... lets hope this passes soon .... she said if she starts throwing up tonight we have to call and come in .... the Clinic has a 24 hr. Vet and Staff there ... I love them ... there soooo sweet and ALWAYS have time to see her ..... :thumbup: I will give you guys an Update tomorrow morning ..... :) |
