To make a very long Story short... a neighbor two places down have two female yorkies, one that is 12 yrs old named Belle, wife was out of state (they getting divorced) she left yorkies for a week with husband, well couple of nights ago he calls me all panicky saying Belle was trying to poop and crying, i asked if she had poop stuck to the butt and he said yes, i told him he needs to get her in warm water and clean her poop all off and if she has long hair to trim around her butt, well after a while he came rushing over with her and said he couldn do it, so did the best i could, that poor babies butt was bloody, i felt so bad, i told him to watch to make shure she poos, well he called me and asked if i could please check her in morning while he is @ work and i said i would, and he said if i felt she needs to be seen by Vet so be it. Well by next morning i took her out and could see she was trying to go but couldn, well i called her Vet and they asked for someone to bring her in. Well guy couldn as he had a lawyer app. at that time so i said i would take her, well when they looked at her butt they went omg there is a maggot well they cleaned her as good as they could but poor baby was so sore they said they would have to sedate her to check whats going on inside... well thy had to call owners wife and get permission as i didn own the dog and i didn want the responsibility with sedating 12 yr old dog... well they said i had to leave her all night and owner would be back next morning to get her.... wellshe called and thanked me next day for taking her ... but then told me that she knew before she left that she had issues... she never botherd to to tell her hubby.... i lost it .... how can that stubbit B%$# to that to her poor baby, i cried... Belle was soo sweet to me and she clung to me at the vet ...like she was trying to say ...help me Mommy....anyways they dont realy know what the problem was either a bacteria or a burst anal gland maybe ???? | OMG. Some people just are brainless. I can understand why that poor dog had maggots. They live in open flesh! Oh how she must have hurt. Thank you for being so loving to her and getting her to the vet. Those two idiots should have maggots up their butts! |

| Oh wow! How terrible that the Belle was suffering because of that her owner. I am so glad that you were available to help her. From what I understand, maggots feed on dead flesh - they used to be used to clean wounds - they would eat away all of the dead flesh so that the live flesh could heal. In fact some doctors are using sterile maggots and leaches for that very purpose in certain types of wounds. Here is an article - I found a utube video of someone being treated with maggots, even though it was working miracles on the wound, I will spare you - it was really gross.... | Thanks for the response, i tell you i was crying at Vets for the little girl as she was my own, i realy dont think the guy Greg is to blame, he had no clue as his wife took care of them, thats why he called me when he saw the problem, i think he is going through alot as he filed for divorce on the same day, think he is drowning his problems in beer... the dog actualy belongs to his son that is 15 and they had her since she was a pup (now 12) i think she has allergys also... well i dont know for shure yet, but i think that heartless b.... is taking the younger yorkie, as she is what i found out her fav. and leaving Belle with her son and hubby , but not set in stone as she just got hit with the divorce thing yesterday. His Mom and Dad live next door and she has been keeping me updated, as i do not want to get involved in a marital issue. But you can rest ashure if this little girl stays behind i am going to keep an eye on her. The son who is 15 is a very good responsible kid , he freaked when he found out she was at the vets... these people are pretty well off and have a very nice house. Greg had told me right of the batt that if i felt she needs to go to vet to take her. Soo will keep you all posted if i know more and how she is doing, last time i saw her her poor little butt was at least , no kiddin 3 times the size of norrmal... thanks everyone and thanks Cindy for the link , i am gonna wait till after my lunch to read it !

| One thing you should know is that maggots don't always feed on an open wound. I know that for sure because my baby, Armani sniffed a fly larva into his nose...where it hatched and burrowed through his brain...exiting out his right eye socket. According to my research, the type of maggot that was in my puppy was from a Bot Fly and they called it a cuterebra. They burrow and feed off their host and after a certain amount of days need to exit to breathe. I know it's gross...but, due to the brain damage it killed my baby boy. But, there are new medications out there that kill cuterebra and allow animals to live healthy lives. It just depends on how much damage has been done. My heart breaks for you and the family. I pray she gets well soon. |

| Well i think in Belle's case i think she had a sore bottom and i think it stems from that, or since this person trims them herself, i suspect they are not getting their anal glands drained, i noticed their other dog scooting on her bottom, i explained that to the guy, so hopefully they will do something about it. These dogs are not abused i dont think, just poor grooming practice... if this Baby is left behind, i will volenteer to take her along to get groomed with my two !
